Key Responsibilities:
Perform shipfitting tasks, including layout, cutting, fitting, welding, and installation of metal components on ships and marine structures.
Interpret and work from blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate fabrication and assembly of ship structures.
Work with various metals, including steel, aluminum, and other materials common in the marine industry.
Perform precise measurements and cuts, ensuring accuracy in alignment and fit.
Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and heavy machinery to complete projects.
Inspect work for defects, and make adjustments as needed.
Ensure all work complies with safety standards and regulations.
Collaborate with other team members and departments to ensure timely completion of projects.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a 1st Class Marine Shipfitter.
Proven expertise in shipfitting techniques, including welding, cutting, and fitting metal parts.
Strong knowledge of ship construction, marine blueprints, and safety procedures.
Ability to operate a variety of tools and machinery used in shipfitting.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Ability to work in various environmental conditions (indoor/outdoor, confined spaces, etc.).
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
Valid welding certification (preferred).
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
Comfortable working in various positions and environments, including heights and confined spaces.
Willingness to work overtime or weekends as needed.
