Job Description

The Housing Authority of the the City of Shreveport (HACS) is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic team player to serve as Job Developer on YouthBuild Project. The HACS hires quality employees and encourages excellence, to ensure the HACS will achieve and maintain high performance standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Refer participants with additional job skills development classes provide additional job search assistance or training
  • Identify benefits of registered apprenticeship programs, continuing education through 2- and 4-year college and direct employment
  • Work closely with our local workforce investment board staff to engage local employers with open job orders within the targeted industries for our program
  • Will inform employers about the program, certifications and skills of the participants and how the program can assist them in meeting their staffing needs
  • Have weekly targeted goals for the number of employers they visit and number of unsubsidized employment opportunities and internships they are able to secure
  • Follow-up with employers after a participant is placed in employment or internship to ensure the participant is meeting expectations and identify additional skills participants may need to meet employer deman

Qualifications

Four years of counseling or crisis intervention experience with young adults.

Bachelor's degree in counseling, psychology or related field, or equivalent working experience with young people.

Strong commitment to helping young people succeed in an innovative training program to reorient their lives and nurture their leadership skills.

Ability to establish rapport and relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people.

Knowledge of human service, health, court and criminal justice systems' programs, regulations and procedures.

Excellent interpersonal skills and problem-solving skills; ability to relate to a wide range of issues, people and institutions.

Excellent public speaking, listening and written communication skills

Non-judgmental attitude. Willingness to teach young people about service systems and decision-making processes. Ability to work as part of a team.

Salary: $55,000.00 per year
