TITLE: Willenborg Civic Action Intern in Nutrition: DU Feeds Manager in Training The student role, DU Feeds Manager in Training, is a position developed in collaboration between the Willenborg Civic Learning Academy, the Office of Civic Learning and Engagement, and the Department of Nutrition Sciences. In this role, the student will be trained to become the DU Feeds Manager in the academic year. Below are roles and responsibilities associated with each entity affiliated with this position. Description for the Willenborg Civic Action Intern in Nutrition: DU Feeds Manager in Training The overall purpose of this position is to learn the position of DU Feeds Manager in order to assume the role for the academic year. Working closely with the current DU Feeds Manager, the Manager in Training will work to sustain and deepen the campus effort to address food insecurity among students, primarily through DU Feeds, a student-led food pantry that aims to provide nutritious food options to students experiencing food insecurity on campus. The DU Feeds Manager in Training will be supervised by the DU Feeds Manager and faculty in the Department of Nutrition Sciences. This position is funded by the Willenborg Civic Learning Academy. Responsibilities include assisting the DU Feeds Manager with and learning the following tasks: Oversee weekly shopping, record expenses, and complete inventory management. Recruit and delegate clear and distinct roles and responsibilities to volunteers. Those roles could include (but are not limited to) a) media and promotion of pantry services, b) volunteer coordination and management, c) inventory management, d) budget management (ledgers to document expenditures and management of a filing system for receipts). Meet with faculty and community partners every two weeks throughout the semester to provide updates. Provide updates and reports to stakeholders and participate in fundraising events, both internal and external. Develop and strengthen networks with other organizations, both on and off campus. Participate in meetings and maintain documentation required of funding agencies (e.g. Swipe Out Hunger). Assist in the preparation to meet the requirements for the Hunger-Free Campus Grants Program. Document and update procedures for future managers and stakeholders to maintain institutional memory and feed continuous improvement. Under the supervision of faculty, explore, brainstorm, and, when possible, implement research to better understand how to address food scarcity challenges on campus. Other duties as agreed upon with supervisors. Requirements: 5-10 hours per week, on campus with some remote/virtual Skills, Knowledge, and Qualifications: Commitment and ability to fill the role as DU Feeds Manager in the academic year. Works well in teams and independently; good people skills; ability to maintain confidentiality. Responsible; personable; ability to follow through; flexible. Ability to complete tasks independently with minimal supervision. Strong verbal and written communication skills Must be an undergraduate student enrolled at least part-time at Dominican University Must be eligible for US employment
