Under some degree of direction by the supervisor, the welder/fitter produces completed weldments and other structures by using raw material, welding machines and engineering supplied blue prints to meet the production goals in accordance with company policies and procedures. This position requires an individual with a high degree of experience with a detailed quality oriented mind.

PAY is anywhere from $19-$24 (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE)

1ST SHIFT (4 - 10 hour shifts) 6AM-4:30PM MONDAY - THURSDAY

1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Include but are not limited to the following, other duties may be applied;

1.1. Work with supervisors and managers to ensure all customer expectations and requirements are met per each job specification by having the following:

1.2. Comply to Company and OSHA safety standards

1.3. Ability to properly operate welding equipment such as filler rods, valves, gas cylinders and MIG & TIG equipment

1.4. Ability to read and interpret blueprint drawings, sheet metal drawings, customer drawings, diagrams, welds symbols and other instructional materials proficiently

1.5. Ability to interpret tolerances on customer drawings and weld parts within tolerances

1.6. Ability to use Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (TIG) and/or Metal Inert Gas (MIG) to weld aluminum sheet metal, mild steel and stainless steel from 1/8" thru 1/4" plate and extrusion

1.7. Ability to lay a cosmetic weld with good fusion, penetration and strength integrity that meets applicable codes

1.8. Ability to build fixtures that assist in welding part(s) to conform to required position

1.9. Work efficiently and independently while also demonstrating a willingness to work within a team environment

1.10. Work with quality control inspectors to meet or exceed the needs of the customer

1.11. Meet pre-determined per piece weld times

1.12. Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position

1.13. Must be familiar with hand tools and have the ability to use safely such as; die grinders, metal grinders, sanders, drills, and other hand tools related to the jobs needs

1.14. Must be able to meet critical shipping due dates

1.15. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals

1.16. Ability to obtain certification to operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) and overhead cranes

1.17. Has the Authority and Responsibility to report non-conforming product

2.2. Specified and accurate inspections and measurements

3. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

3.1. None at this time

4. QUALIFICATIONS

4.1. Mechanically adept

4.2. Attention to detail

4.3. Strong understanding of welding techniques, concepts, practices and procedures

4.4. Positive, willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment to reach a common goal

4.5. Ability to prioritize and work under schedule demands

4.6. Good communication skills

4.7. Computer literate

4.8. Ability to read all necessary measuring instruments

4.9. Ability to read and interpret specifications

4.10. Knowledge of shop practices and operations

5. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

5.1. A high school diploma or equivalent preferred along with;

5.2. Three (3) to five (5) years' experience in MIG and TIG welding

6. LANGUAGE SKILLS

6.1. Ability to document data in the English language

6.2. Ability to effectively communicate with other employees regarding work instructions or answers inquiries from groups of supervisors and/or managers

7. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

7.1. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

8. REASONING ABILITY

8.1. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists

8.2. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

8.3. Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions

8.4. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables

9. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

9.1. American Welding Society (AWS) qualifications to D12 a plus

10. PHYSICAL DEMANDS

10.1. While performing the duties of this position, the tasks require the welder to constantly remain in a stationary position; occasionally to frequently bend at the waist and/or twisting

10.2. Must be able from seldom to occasionally move/traverse around the work area

10.3. Must be able to constantly operate standard welding equipment

10.4. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 - 30 pounds

11. WORK ENVIRONMENT and ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an Employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job

11.2. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

11.3. The environment is primarily a typical welding environment with some degree of a fabrication environment

11.4. While the buildings have vent systems, welding assignments do create additional heat

11.5. There is some limited exposure to physical risk

12. PPE REQUIREMENTS

12.1. Eye protection required in all areas of the production floor

12.2. ANSI approved welder hoods required while welding

12.3. Approved safety shoes/boots with toe protection are required within production areas

12.4. Hearing protection equipment required while on the production floors

12.5. Other PPE such as gloves are required based on the task at hand
