Responsible for assisting Water Resources staff with projects and programs assigned to the Engineering & Asset Management workgroup. Specifically, this position's primary responsibilities will be assisting with Water Service Line Inventory work. This role can accommodate 20-40 hours per week depending on availability and workload. Union Affiliation: Non-Union Pay: $20.00/HourEssential Job Functions: Assist Water Resources Staff with creating a Water Service Line Inventory, including but not limited to Performing historical records reviews Performing research within Burlington Land Records Recording service line data in a manner compliant with Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation and US Environmental Protection Agency standards Perform field work to help collect data Providing Water Resources Staff with regular reports on progress and project status Perform GIS related functions, including but not limited to: Mapping of new features, inventory and attribute updates to existing features, maintaining GIS based service records Performing complex GIS procedures and data analysis Creating maps and other visual tools Digitizing map records, including scanning paper maps, georeferencing, and creating digital features Use GPS to collect asset location information in the field Use ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Online to manage Water Resources asset information. Perform field work to help collect data; may include data collection inside properties at scheduled appointments. Non-Essential Job Functions: Provide field support for other Water Resources Staff, including but not limited to: Site data collection, including but not limited to surveying and soil borings Inspection of Water Resources assets (pipes, manholes, catch basins, outfalls, etc.) Water quality sampling of surface water and wastewater GIS and asset management technology support CCTV (video) sewer assessment program implementation, under the guidance of the Infrastructure Asset Manager Conducting CCTV videoing, review videos and score pipe conditions using Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP) methodology or working with internal or external forces to do the same. Assist with the collection and maintenance of organized, current data related to: Operational performance metrics (catch basin cleaning, outfall inspections, pipe condition, etc.) Combined Sewer Overflow and other discharge events Rain gauge data Prepare written documentation of findings of various activities listed above. Maintain accurate records and files. Perform other duties as required. Completion of a minimum of two years course work in an Environmental Science or Engineering program, or other water quality related program Demonstrated ability to effectively use computer equipment and related software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Excel and Word and GIS (ArcGIS) Good verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to exercise independent judgement within the limits of the position Possess and maintain valid State Driver's License.
