Job Description As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by: identify relevant data collection tasks, and perform, or oversee junior staff efforts to, complete data collection, including field data, project documents, previous studies and relevant technical literature. Extract and organize data from project documents/literature. Review applicable design guidelines or restrictions. Summarize findings for use and review by the project team and client. Independently prepare memorandums, project reports, reports to environmental agencies and presentations (including external stakeholders), including figures, tables and technical appendices. Lead presentation and discussion of technical content at meetings with project team members, clients and external stakeholders. Identify and prepare new technical procedures in support of wastewater collection system and water distribution system planning and design projects using programmed queries in MS Access and geospatial analysis in ArcGIS to accurately and efficiently complete engineering analysis, model development tasks, and model results review/ reporting. Develop PowerBI scripts for watershed management studies for client websites and platforms. Oversee application of developed procedures by junior staff. Independently complete master planning and engineering design for wastewater collection systems (including large, regional pressure/gravity systems) using complex hydraulic model software, including MIKE Urban, EPA SWMM and InfoSWMM. (Work products include completed hydrologic / hydraulic models, determination of existing system capacity, formulation of recommended improvements.) Independently complete master planning and engineering design for water distribution systems using specialized software (MIKE Urban, H20Map Sewer, MWHSoft H20Map Water and WaterGEMS). (Typical analysis components include projection of future water demands, evaluation of available water supply (by source), evaluation of capacity to maintain adequate fire flow pressures, distribution system capacity to meet projected water demand, system storage to balance demand variation and meet maximum demands, and operational strategies to minimize energy costs from pumping. Planning recommendations include formulation of recommended improvements.) Manage scope, budget and schedule of work delegated to junior staff. Perform oversight of project tasks or small projects to include managing scope, budget, technical approach and staffing. Perform quality checking/review and coordinate expert review as necessary. Make sure that recommendations are implemented. Participate with national, regional, or local technical organizations. Expand capability in advanced modeling such as ICM 2D, pySWMM. Develop models to represent natural and constructed elements impacting sanitary sewer, stormwater, or combined sewer networks using InfoWorks ICM. Responsible for coordination with client service managers, project managers and marketing staff to support pursuits of water resources business opportunities such as preparing scope for proposals to RFPs, client interviews and presentations. May work from home up to 3 days per week. This position requires 5-10% domestic travel. Employment Type Regular Minimum Qualifications Must possess at least a master's degree or its equivalent in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field and at least 4 years of experience as a Water Resource Engineer. In the alternative, a bachelor's or its equivalent in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related field and 5 years of progressive experience as a Water Resource Engineer would be acceptable. At least 4 years of experience in GIS software including ArcMap and ArcGIS Pro and application of hydraulic modeling software including: SWMM, pySWMM, ICM InfoWorks (1D and 2D), and HEC-RAS At least 4 years of experience modeling treatment plants in Infoworks ICM based on record drawings and standard operation procedures (SOPs) to represent them as model elements and real-time control rules At least 4 years of experience with application/programming for data analysis, visualization, developing dashboards, and automation in R, VBA, Python, ArcPy, and PowerBi.
