Starting Salary Range: $44,041.00 - $52,423.00 DOQ EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED: Record and monitor water supply and storage and be aware at all times of needs and demands on the system. Monitor operations and processes to ensure that local, state, and federal regulations are met, and water quality is maintained. Perform various chemical and biological testing and analysis as required by various agencies and prepare and maintain accurate logs and records related to quality and quantity. Understand and follow proper safety and operating procedures. Identify, diagnose and correct normal problems relating to the treatment processes including making chemical dosage, raw flow, and pump changes. Assist in performing treatment plant and pump station maintenance or repairs as needed. Respond to customer complaints and retain detailed records of each account. Understand and conform to the policies and directives as established by the Director, City Manager, and City Council. C Operator/Trainee REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Suite products. Strong math, logic, and reasoning skills. Ability to read and effectively communicate with all employees regarding directives and assignments. C Operator Required/Trainee Desired KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES Elevated knowledge and experience related to the operations of a surface water treatment plant and distribution system including correct chemical dosages and proper analytical testing procedures. General knowledge of storing, handling, pumping and containing hazardous chemicals used in the water treatment process and the safety equipment and procedures specific to each substance. Ability to identify and diagnose treatment process problems and alert appropriate officials of items which are considered major problems affecting water supply and public safety. Familiar with SCADA system operations. Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for the proper reporting, operation, and maintenance of a surface water treatment plant and distribution system. Ability to maintain accurate and comprehensive records that document the status and performance of the treatment plant and distribution system. REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent and is proficient in math. Trainee - Class D Water License issued by TCEQ or the ability to obtain within 6 months. C Operator Class "C" Surface Water Treatment Operator's License issued by the State of Texas. Evidence of the experience, knowledge, skill, ability, and responsibility necessary to perform tasks and ensure public safety through safe drinking water and adequate supply. DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Additional training or experience in related field.
