Starting Salary Range: A $55,532.00 - $63,721.00 B $50,983.00 - $60,687.00 EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED: Monitor operations and processes to ensure that local, state, and federal regulations are met, and water quality is maintained. Perform various chemical and biological testing and analysis as required by multiple agencies and prepare and maintain accurate logs and records related to quality and quantity. Prepare and maintain accurate records related to quality and quantity as required by the TCEQ. Perform a variety of duties in recording and monitoring supply, storage; aware at all times of needs and demands on the system. Perform preventative maintenance and repair procedures. Understand and follow proper safety and operating procedures. Identify, diagnose, and correct problems relating to both treatment processes and equipment. Respond to customer complaints and retain detailed records of each account. Understand, follow, and enforce any applicable policies, practices and directives. Use acquired knowledge and experience to help develop less experienced operators. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge and experience related to the operations of a surface water treatment plant including correct chemical dosages and proper analytical testing procedures. Understanding of chemical and biological process as related to water treatment. Knowledge of storing, handling, pumping, and containing hazardous chemicals used in the water treatment process and the safety equipment and procedures specific to each substance. Knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations for the proper reporting, operation, and maintenance of a surface water treatment plant and distribution system. Strong math, logic, and reasoning skills. Familiar with SCADA system operations. Able to read and effectively communicate with employees regarding directions and assignments. Proficiency using a computer and Microsoft Suite products. Maintain accurate and comprehensive records that document the status and performance of the treatment plant and distribution system. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot electrical apparatus and process instrumentation. Identify and diagnose treatment process problems and alert appropriate officials of items that are considered major problems affecting water supply and public safety. Capable of staying calm and using sound judgement in stressful conditions, including maintaining or restoring quality and quantity of service environmental or hazardous conditions. REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or equivalent Operator A-Class "A" Water Operator's License issued by the State of Texas. Operator B-Class "B" Surface Water Treatment Operator's License issued by the State of Texas. Five years of operating experience within a surface water treatment plant. Evidence of the experience, knowledge, skill, ability, and responsibility necessary to perform tasks and ensure public safety through safe drinking water and adequate supply. DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Additional training or experience in related field.
