As the Wastewater Supervisor, the successful candidate will oversee all activities related to wastewater management within the Public Works Department. Your primary responsibilities will include coordinating wastewater collections and treatment operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing essential leadership to your team.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate and oversee all wastewater program activities, including collections and treatment operations.
  • Develop and implement operational goals, policies, and procedures to enhance service delivery.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and implement necessary changes.
  • Direct and supervise staff, including training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
  • Manage budgetary allocations for staffing, equipment, and materials.
  • Conduct inspections and evaluations to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of wastewater records and reports.
  • Coordinate with other departments, agencies, and organisations as needed.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and developments to incorporate best practices into operations.

The Person


  • Education or training in chemistry, biology, and algebra.
  • Four years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations and maintenance.
  • Administrative or lead supervisory experience preferred.
  • Possession of a Class B driver's license and relevant certifications.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to make sound decisions and solve problems independently.
  • License or Certificate: Possession of or the ability to obtain a Class B driver's license, Wastewater Collection and Treatment Certifications Level II from the State of Alaska and Wastewater Collection and Treatment Certifications Level III.
