ScionHealth is recruiting for a Vice President, Health Information Management Services to join our team. Remote candidates will be considered for this role.


Job Summary

The Vice President, Health Information Management Services (HIM), while reporting to the Senior Vice President, Revenue Cycle, is responsible for leading the activities of the Health Information Management Services and Coding Department in the management and maintenance of all patient medical records information, ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws, rules/regulations of licensing agencies and within the Joint Commission standards for the quality of patient care. This position is responsible for the overall strategy for coordinating HIM and Coding services across the multi-facility healthcare system. The Vice President will implement and support all Corporate HIM initiatives and activities, as well as providing/supporting coverage at the facility level for department operations, reimbursement opportunities, various program implementation, and HIM specific system installations.


Position Responsibilities / Expectations

  • Supervises Health Information Management personnel and assigns duties to ensure accurate and timely completion of scanning, coding, and all aspects of record management (assembly, abstracting, storage, and release).
  • Oversees the collection, analysis, distribution, storage, and destruction of health information and ensures quality.
  • Provides management of the coding process and maintains quality and ethical coding standards through validation.
  • Work with coding staff to ensure accurate coding for reimbursement and clinical care.
  • Work with physicians to improve the quality of documentation.
  • Interface with inside/outside legal counsel regarding content of medical records.
  • Ensure HIM Key Indicators are tracked and reported monthly to the Performance Improvement Committee.
  • Works with each facility to ensure DNFB and Bill Holds meet industry standards and expectations.
  • Works closely with other departments to reduce and lower denial write-offs.
  • Develops, maintains, and enforces HIM policies and procedures to comply with state and federal regulations, as well as organizational policies and procedures.
  • Leads, coordinates, implements, trains, and evaluates HIM leaders and employees.
  • Analyzes the department's needs and establishes objectives to address those needs, ensuring consistency with organizational initiatives.
  • Provide exceptional time management skills to include being mindful of meeting deadlines, responding timely to emails and phone messages.
  • Stay abreast of current and pending laws and regulations pertaining to the industry.
  • Leads initiatives such as company technology deployment and support strategies, training requirements and execution, and technical support processes to improve productivity, reduce labor and contract expense.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferred): Health Information Management, Business, or related field of study.

Experience

  • Progressive experience in Health Information Management for a hospital or healthcare system, with three years of management or supervisory experience.

Licensure/Certification

  • RHIA (Preferred)
  • RHIT (Preferred)
