Role Summary:

The Head of Program Management (PM) is an experienced leader and passionate drug developer who brings their strategic vision for leading and growing Dyne's Program Management function to enable our long-term success for patients and Dyne's medicines. The Head of Program Management ensures Program Managers successfully advance the company's portfolio of programs ensuring effective cross-functional contributions from all functions. This role is responsible for driving portfolio-level activities, governance reviews, resource planning discussions, activity modeling, and portfolio analytics. Working with a team of experienced Program Managers, the Head of PM drives oversight of program execution across the Dyne portfolio and is accountable for the achievement of Program Team goals and delivery of critical deliverables and results.

This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being a remote role.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Communicates, and enables vision for growth of Program Management function to support growing Dyne pipeline and capabilities
  • Drives the development of new Program Management capabilities, process and tools needed to support multiple clinical-stage development programs, preparations for registrations and commercialization and the continued advancement of Dyne's early pipeline into the clinic
  • Lead and develop team of Program Managers to effectively manage Programs and foster seamless integration and communication across the company:
    • Drive understanding and inspire the big picture thinking of corporate & Program strategy and cross-functional interdependencies in order to lead execution across all Programs
    • Leverage understanding to establish and maintain alignment with Program Team Leadership, cross-functional stakeholders, and enterprise priorities
    • Instill effective meeting management practices inclusive of preparation, stakeholder management, facilitation, and follow through, leveraging PM tools and standards.
    • Partner with Program Team Leaders to provide strategic and operational leadership to programs to achieve Program and company goals
    • Ensure effective partnership with cross-functional representatives to develop comprehensive product development and lifecycle management plans that optimize: value, time, resources, risk, and alignment with business objectives
  • Establish and maintain effective PT model at Dyne:
    • Develop and maintain clear Program plans understood by all team members with all key activities, deliverables, responsibilities, and timing (including high-level and detailed views)
    • Ensure proactive coordination of all key activities at the PT level, and as needed, at Sub-Team level; catch, communicate and close gaps proactively
    • Provide clear communication within each PT and sub-teams, and between PTs and Dyne governance and company including status updates, issue tracking, etc.
    • Inspire PTs and Sub-Teams to evaluate multiple options and bring forward alternative scenarios for consideration
    • Enable clear decision making (articulate and align on timing and approach for key decisions; prepare effective analyses and materials for decisions; ensure decisions are understood and implemented)
    • Ensure "health" of PT and sub-teams by proactively managing members' engagement, communications, expectations, issue resolution, etc.
  • Develop foundations for effective Portfolio Management (integrated portfolio views; key milestones and decisions; portfolio scenarios for effective optimization)
    • Develop, maintain and make available Portfolio views in synch with Program plans and Dyne financials plans
    • Drive Portfolio Review preparation and decisions
    • Support annual financial planning and long range planning toolwork
  • Enable high-performing cross-functional Program Teams responsible for the development and commercialization of therapeutics to treat rare neuromuscular disorders
  • Ensure translation of program strategy into clearly articulated and communicated program plans, understood and enthusiastically supported by team members and broader Dyne leadership
  • Ensure Program Managers are maintaining robust and detailed suite of PM tools and plans to facilitate and enable integrated and harmonized cross-functional execution across the program teams
  • Drive the evolution of PM tools and plans to ensure program teams are set up for success; develop new capabilities, tools and plans as needed to support organizational growth and ensure all key stakeholders at Dyne have needed insights and visibility into program plans
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential issues and interactions across programs
  • Anticipate the needs of the program teams as programs advance and Dyne pipeline continues to grow; help drive clarity and alignment around Dyne operating model, as needed
  • Ensure learnings and best practices are communicated and applied across Dyne programs to ensure continuous improvement across portfolio
  • Maintain clear and open proactive communication with Dyne Senior Leadership and other stakeholders regarding program status and priorities
  • Represent Program Management at key Dyne governance forums

Education & Skills Requirements

  • Master's degree in a scientific discipline or MBA
  • 15+ years of experience in pharmaceutical industry in Program Management leadership positions and/or drug development and proven track record in driving programs through IND, early clinical, pivotal stages and approval
  • Experience developing and implementing robust Program Management capabilities, processes and tools in the setting of a growing company and highly effective cross-functional Program Teams
  • Exceptional track record of delivering on business objectives, activity/milestones leading to filing and launching, and strong knowledge of neuromuscular diseases
  • Experience in rare genetic diseases preferred
  • Experience in Phase 1-3 drug development is required; product launch/early commercialization experience a plus
  • Seasoned leader with experience across all aspects of drug development and commercialization
  • Ability to effectively partner with Functional Heads and Program Team Leaders to drive the integration and clear articulation of program plans to enable execution across the Dyne portfolio
  • Long-term vision to shape and grow Program Management function at Dyne to support late-stage clinical development, registrations and commercialization for a growing pipeline of products
  • Collaborative corporate leader partnering with other senior leaders to shape and fulfil Dyne's overall mission to develop and commercialize transformational therapeutics for people living with serious diseases
