Role Summary/Purpose:


This role is responsible for the management, execution, and ongoing enhancement of the SYF Disparate Impact Testing Framework maintained by the Fair and Responsible Banking Team. We are looking for a seasoned analytics professional to engage with internal and external Model / Strategy Owners and Developers to conduct disparate impact testing, drive program enhancements, and lead testing initiatives. The role will also oversee, train, and provide effective challenge to Model and Strategy Owners who create business justifications to mitigate the risk of disparate impact. This role will report to the VP, Fair Lending Monitoring and will engage with other analytic resources dedicated to Fair Lending monitoring.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Manage / enhance / execute the SYF Fair Lending Disparate Impact Testing framework in response to new and evolving regulatory guidance, including but not limited to the implementation of an enterprise-wide Disparate Impact testing plan, policies, procedures, and control processes.

  • In conjunction with Legal, communicate analysis results and findings in a clear manner to stakeholders at all levels within the firm, including senior management.

  • Oversee, train and provide effective challenge to model and strategy developers who are creating business justifications to mitigate disparate impact risk.

  • Oversee third party supplier who conducts disparate impact testing; Manage associated budget.

  • Responsible for the development and ongoing management of a centralized variable repository used to aid in the assessment of risk

  • As a subject matter expert, provide guidance to the business on the Fair Lending-related regulations by keeping abreast of developing trends and changes in regulations relating to Fair Lending

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned


Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree with quantitative underpinning (i.e., Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or, Engineering) and 5+ years of Consumer Lending statistical modeling/analytics experience; or in lieu of a degree 9+ years' experience in Risk, Credit, Finance, Accounting, Consumer Lending, and/or other relevant professional experience

  • 5+ years managing a team and providing thought leadership to support model/strategy development activities

  • Understanding of Fair Lending Laws and Principles including ECOA, Disparate Treatment and Disparate Impact


Desired Characteristics:

  • Masters or PHD degree with quantitative underpinning (i.e., Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or, Engineering)

  • Demonstrated ability to lead /manage large cross functional projects and deliver results within deadlines

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to coordinate with multiple functional areas and independently present explanations of complex subjects to senior management and partner with teams throughout the company

  • Strong ability to rapidly learn the intricacies of an unfamiliar process, structure and scope complex problems, apply a range of analytical tools, gain and synthesize insights, and develop actionable recommendations

  • Familiarity with model development and governance standards across the banking sector, especially as related to credit card and consumer lending (SR11-7, OCC 11-12)

  • Experience/understanding of sophisticated modeling frameworks based on cutting-edge / next-gen techniques (ML, Python, PySpark, R)

  • Experience in data visualization (Tableau/Excel) and reporting solutions


Grade/Level: 13


The salary range for this position is 150 000.00 USD Annual and is eligible for an annual bonus based on individual and company performance.


Actual compensation offered within the posted salary range will be based upon work experience, skill level or knowledge.


Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA, NY Metro and Seattle.





Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • N ew hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles. Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months' time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles. Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 18 months' time in position before they can post. All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don't meet the time in position or performance expectations).
