Department: English Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Visiting Instructor for the School of Literary and Performing Arts will report to the Co-Directors of the School of Literary and Performing Arts. The Visiting Instructor will teach the equivalency of four courses per semester (12IUs). Courses may include core offerings such as Mythology, World Literature, Introduction to Music, and Composition-as well as upper-level courses in literature, creative writing, or creative non-fiction. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy. Qualifications: Required Education and/or Experience: Master's degree or higher in English or related discipline; Strong record of teaching at the college level. Preferred Education or Experience: Experience teaching upper-level literature or creative writing courses; Ability to teach writing classes in composition; Ability to teach Introductory Music Courses; Ability to contribute to recruitment and retention efforts; Ability to teach face-to-face courses as well as online courses; Knowledge of secondary education teaching and observation. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Teach the equivalency of four courses per semester; Assist with school events and initiatives. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Content knowledge in literature and writing; Excellent communication skills; Collaborative leadership style; Demonstrated commitment to student success; Ability to work with a highly diverse group of students.
