The Textile Design Visiting Assistant Professor will be a collaborative member of the Textile Design faculty: teaching courses at the undergraduate/graduate levels, contributing to departmental initiatives, participating in service opportunities and ongoing professional development activities. The ideal candidate will have artistic and technical proficiency in multiple textile platforms, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and relevant textile design industry experience.

Essential Functions:


•Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.


•Teaches textile design studio and/or technical courses (three or four 3-credit courses per semester)


•Collaborates with Textile Design leadership team to facilitate departmental activities


•Participates in service to the Textile Design programs, the School of Design and Engineering, Kanbar
College and the University as needed


•Collaborates with faculty across disciplines

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Education: Master s degree in Textile Design or Bachelor s degree in Textile Design with related industry experience.

AND

Experience: Three or more years textile industry experience preferred. University teaching experience preferred.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):


•Knowledge of textile industry trends and technologies


•Demonstrated ability in woven design, print design and/or knit design; knowledge across multiple
platforms preferred


•Ability to develop textile collections from concept to curation


•Demonstrated commitment to teaching with excellent communication skills


•Interest in sustainable materials and technologies


•Collaborative by nature; demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of people


•Detail oriented with ability to multi-task
