Job Description Overview

General Dynamics Electric Boat (EB) is seeking a highly motivated engineer to support enhancements and new designs for VIRGINIA Class submarine electrical controllers.

The successful candidate will lead or support technical integration projects, develop and manage technical requirements, support cross-functional interface development activities, and manage the quality, progress, and budget of sub-tier supplier development activities.

The successful candidate will be required to work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers as well as work independently. The candidate will be required to develop, maintain, and perform to long-term task plans, and communicate effectively with external and internal stakeholders. Additionally, the candidate may be required to support submarine and component manufacturing events which include overseeing system test, qualification, and troubleshooting. Travel will be required for this position. On-the-job training and mentorship will be provided.

Electric Boat offers Flexible Work Arrangements that allows some work to be performed remotely and at home. This varies from position to position based on the amount of classified material the department interacts with, as well as a few other variables. Qualifications

Required:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree is required
  • Project management experience
  • Candidate must be from organizations outside of operations (Gildart/Gabriel)
Preferred:
  • Familiarity with AC and DC motor controllers
  • Familiarity with integration of variable frequency drive controllers
  • Electric Motor design and integration
  • Component or Electronic Development and Design
  • Developing and managing requirements for DoD or commercial programs

Skills
  • Organizational skills to develop and maintain long-term task plans is required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid problem-solving capabilities
