POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for providing the company strategic pharmacy services leadership and direction. Leads the diverse pharmacy service's teams who are responsible for managing the pharmacy benefit for The Health Plan and its clients. This position will lead and develop the pharmacy team to deliver an integrated pharmacy management model. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Education, Experience, Skills) PharmD from an accredited school of pharmacy. Active, unrestricted license with the Board of Pharmacy in the appropriate state. Minimum three years in pharmacy managed care or pharmacy benefits manager leadership role. Must demonstrate success in managing a health plan's pharmacy benefits manager relationship. Experience evaluating, tailoring, and developing integrated pharmacy programs and executing strategies to maximize pharmacy benefit savings. Experience building and maintaining constructive, collaborative, and effective relationships with vendors, outside contacts and other health care professionals. Experience managing and prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects. Comprehensive understanding of the managed care industry and industry standard workflows. Understanding of drug policy development. Excellent management, communication and leadership skills. Previous experience and ability to work with high level executives and clinicians as well as the skills to develop effective working relationships with staff in various departments. Possess working knowledge of computer programs for business (i.e. word processing and spreadsheet applications). QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: (Education, Experience, Skills) Doctor of Pharmacy. West Virginia pharmacy license. Completion of an accredited residency program. Experience with government programs (Medicaid, Medicare), fully-insured and employer managed plans. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides the strategic direction, leadership growth and development for the pharmacy services team. Manages The Health Plan's pharmacy benefits manager relationship. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key vendors and contacts to ensure the strategic direction goals are met. Provides strategic oversight to the Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee as the committee chair. Works closely with The Health Plan's clinical leadership team under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer. Participates in relevant workgroups, task forces, committees, meetings and other activities. Works to ensure department's compliance with state, federal and accrediting agency clinical pharmacy standards. Works to ensure compliance with CMS and NCQA clinical pharmacy requirements. Manages, hires, develops, retains and leads the pharmacy team responsible for providing pharmacy leadership for the company. Serves as a mentor to pharmacists and pharmacy services staff to foster professional growth and development. Works to deliver the most pharmacy value through targeted clinical programs, utilization management and vendor solutions. Ensures documented policies and procedures are established and maintained to ensure accurate, efficient, and compliant operations.
