We are looking for a highly motivated Vice President of Legal with a strong focus on insurance regulatory skills to join our Legal team. This is a hybrid role.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Telenav's executive management process providing legal advice to the CEO and other officers
  • Review, draft, and negotiate managing general agency agreements, reinsurance treaties, and Third Party Administrator agreements for our insurance business
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing requirements (producer licenses, Customer Support Representative licensing, etc.) for the insurance business Advise the insurance business on applicable State Department of Licensing regulations, such as those regarding incentives, commission sharing arrangements, marketing messages, etc.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts to support our insurance business, including SaaS agreements, content agreements, professional services agreements, marketing agreements, and agency commission agreements
  • Manage financing and M&A transactions
  • Act as a strategic partner, providing valuable insights to internal stakeholders throughout the contract process
  • Identify and mitigate legal risks associated with proposed transaction
  • Ensure compliance with global data privacy regulations in collaboration with the in-house Data Protection Officer
  • Develop, update, and maintain form agreements
  • Assist with special projects, legal research, and provide ad hoc support for the Legal team

Experience and Skills

  • 10 years legal experience with a focus on insurance regulatory and operating processes and general experience with corporate matters and intellectual property licensing, reviewing and negotiating software and technology licensing agreements (in-bound and out-bound), and customer agreements
  • Prior experience working at a top law firm and in-house experience as a licensing/product attorney, preferably within the Insurtech industry
  • Experience with corporate management processes, including Board of Directors and corporate governance
  • Strong understanding of privacy and data security issues
  • Juris Doctor with strong academic credentials
  • Active California bar membership or qualified as California Registered In-House Counsel
  • Demonstrated leadership and project management skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, business judgment, and strategic thinking

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $251,000 - $300,000. Your base salary will be determined based on your location, experience, and the pay of employees in similar positions.
