Vibration Technician

Job description / Responsibilities

  • What you will do: Condition Monitoring
  • Conduct routine field vibration data collection, reporting, and follow-up action recommendations on equipment according to an established schedule.
  • Conduct baseline vibration readings on all new and rebuilt rotating equipment before it is commissioned to verify acceptance and suitability and establish baseline data.
  • Conduct non-destructive testing techniques on equipment and vessels as required
  • Utilize infrared thermography techniques on electrical distribution equipment.
  • Create database equipment history files and establish baseline data on pertinent equipment based on criticality.
  • Build on these equipment histories as field data is collected to increase understanding of machine conditions and life cycles
  • Identify value added work and initiate work requests. Quality Assurance

  • Obtain and send out as need oil and hydraulic samples
  • Promote and demonstrate good housekeeping practices
  • Follow all environmental, health and safety rules, regulations, policies and procedures including reporting and documentation requirements.
  • Promote and demonstrate good housekeeping practices.
  • Run Oil Analysis program, which includes receiving lubrication oil samples, logging/prepping samples and mailing out samples. Have access to the Mobil Serv website to review reports and act upon the results. Semi-annual review to ensure samples are not missed or lost, follow-up with Reliability engineer.
  • Run Heat Transfer Oil Analysis program, which includes requesting sample kits, receiving samples, logging/prepping samples and mailing out samples. Review e-mailed reports and act upon the results. Place reports in MWI file. Annual review to ensure samples are not missed or lost, follow-up with Reliability engineer.
  • Assist Reliability engineer with writing and updating preventive maintenance tasks for existing and new equipment.
  • Assist Technical advisors and area Run Plant engineers with precision machine alignments and machine issues that affect production.
  • Assist Mechanics with lubrication issues.

Requirements

Qualifications

Must have a High School Diploma or GED

Legally permitted to work in the U.S

Must be able to read, write and comprehend basic English

Demonstrated experience working with complex mechanical systems

Understanding of vibration and lubrication

Good interpersonal and problem solving

Be a reliable and productive team member

Great communication and organizational skills

Proficiency with computer programs and ability to learn to use new programs

Demonstrated vibrational analysis experience

Experience in an industrial environment

Level 1 Vibration Analysis Certification

Industrial environment subject to extreme heat and cold

Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn in the mill environment

Noisy, dusty and working around moving equipment

Climbing stairs and ladders, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling

Occasionally lifting 50 pounds
