ETHOS Urgent Care of Oceanside is seeking a Per Diem Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

Hours of Operation: Monday - Friday 1pm - 10pm & Saturday - Sunday 10am - 7pm
About the Job: As a Per Diem Veterinary Assistant in Urgent Care you will be responsible for:
  • Triaging patients
  • Obtaining and reporting vitals, prioritizing patient treatments and delegating tasks if needed
  • Recognize changes in patient status and report to doctor
  • Utilizing different imaging modalities (radiographs,ultrasound)
  • Administer and monitor patients for anesthetic/sedation procedures
Compensation range: $18.42 - $23.53 hourly. Compensation is based on experience and education.

Responsibilities:
Serve as an intermediary between doctor and client for non-essential communication
Collect and summarize detailed histories regarding patients that present through the ER following triage with ER Technicians
Create and present treatment plans to client
Communicate between doctors and technicians what treatments (blood draws, procedures, etc.) need to be done.
Assist doctor with patient related tasks through entirety of shift.
Assist with collecting deposits.
Manage consent forms with client.
Document conversations between clients and the attending doctor.
Handle miscellaneous prescriptions requests, client callbacks, labwork entries etc.

About You:
  • Interested in on-call shifts or flexible scheduling opportunities.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; candidates from vocational co-op programs also considered
  • Knowledge and practical application of basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division is required
  • 2 years of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting required. Recent graduates with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Technology or students in the field will be considered first.
