POSITION OVERVIEW:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Utility Technician is responsible for various maintenance and support activities across the mine, including general repair, carpentry, basic plumbing, and maintenance. The ideal candidate will be able to perform repair and maintenance on fixed assets to minimize disruption to the operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform day to day activities of all fixed maintenance assets, including but not limited to: water supply systems, all facilities, and the crushing plant.
  • General cleanliness of assigned equipment.
  • Ability to perform general repair and basic plumbing tasks that are assigned and other routine maintenance.
  • Perform pre-shift inspection, maintain equipment repairs/maintenance records and ensure that records are turned in to your supervisor.
  • Complete assigned work safely and efficiently that meets the company policies and MSHA standards, both with and without direct supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • 2 years' experience in a construction or mining environment, preferred.
  • Knowledge of building construction, maintenance, and plumbing, required.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment with people of varying skills and backgrounds, required.
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills, preferred.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, required.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator for extended periods, required.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform essential functions of the position required.
  • Must have mobile equipment experience, such as forklift/telehandler, skid steer, excavator, required.
  • Must be willing and able to work in a mine and plant setting which may include exposure to extreme temperatures, adverse weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles, required.
