About the Role

Saturn is seeking a User Experience Researcher to enhance the design and functionality of our high school and college calendar product. This role involves conducting comprehensive user research to guide and refine product development, ensuring an intuitive and engaging user experience, as well as sourcing population-level insights to inform future product direction. The UX Researcher will collaborate closely with Product Management, Design and Data teams to translate insights into actionable design strategies, improving product usability and satisfaction. Additionally, the researcher will be instrumental in developing user personas, conducting usability testing, and analyzing user feedback to inform continuous product improvements. This role also involves working directly with our high school and college ambassador teams in a field research capacity. As a founding member of the User Research team, this role offers a unique opportunity to impact Saturn's calendar product directly while working across multiple functions and teams.
  • Lead critical research efforts that deepen our understanding of the user experience and drive product strategy
  • Work in a highly collaborative fashion as a strategic partner to product managers, designers, and engineers to define both the long-term strategy and the short-term tactics for our products by grounding these decisions in user needs and insights
  • Drive all aspects of research (planning, recruiting, moderation, analysis, reporting) for both generate (participatory design) and evaluative (usability testing) research
  • Prioritize research needs and approaches across multiple work streams to work on the right project, scale, and scope at the right time and ensure impact by delivering actionable insights
  • Enable other Saturn team members to learn and apply research skills by building research programs, platforms, and toolkits that empower them to conduct tactical research
  • As a founding member of the UXR team, facilitate the build-out of a robust research practice and infrastructure
  • Disseminate research insights to evolve and enhance Saturn's understanding of user needs and identify innovative opportunities to meet those needs
Candidate Qualifications:
  • 3+ years relevant user research experience at a tech, product-driven company working on digital experiences
  • You are a mixed-methods researcher, with strength in qualitative research generating actionable insights that drive impact
  • Experience conducting complex research at scale and demonstrate the use of a variety of research methods, which may include qualitative interviews, surveys, segmentation ideation sessions, ethnographic field research, usability evaluation, and diary studies
  • Can lead, design, execute, and communicate impactful research in a fast-paced, earlier stage product development process and know how to integrate research into product and design roadmaps
  • Ability to tell compelling stories and are skilled in explaining your work, process, and decisions to cross-functional stakeholders and crave feedback to help you produce your best work
  • Relentlessly focus on users and solving for their needs and wants. You put users first and have experience driving impact from insights
  • Can successfully set and achieve priorities that find the perfect balance between benefiting the project, the Research team, and all of Saturn
  • Can balance working with urgency and focus with methodological rigor and adapt as needed for the situation
  • Familiarity implementing and working with UXR tools to conduct scaled research is a plus
This position has an estimated annual salary range of $125,000 to $150,000, not including bonus, commission and equity. This position also comes with full benefits and stock options. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to reach candidates, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors.
