10Tower Archer Campus Unit Tech DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The Unit Tech/Monitor Tech assumes responsibility for the organization and clerical activities for the nursing unit. RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Assist team members with making copies, order office/medical supplies. Communicates with patients, family and staff in an efficient and timely manner. Demonstrates positive attitudes communicate effectively with patients and family members. Practice Service Excellence at all times. Possesses competency in use of technology and computers. Consistently participates in the multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Answers the phone in timely manner and takes accurate phone messages. Schedules and reschedules appointments correctly. Is knowledgeable of and actively participates in implementation of Unit PI plan. Makes suggestions/recommendations for improved operations. Follows hospital/department infection control policies. Evaluates ethical challenges and their potential impact on the patients quality of care and the nurses professional role. Has knowledge of and utilizes unit specific equipment appropriately. Follows established hospital/department safety policies. Understands and appropriately responds to the unique combination of cultural variables that professionals and individuals bring to interactions. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those stated in this description. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE High School Diploma/GED required. Entry level experience. BLS-CPR certified required. Physical Demands/Work Environment Work requires a variety of physical activities including sitting, standing and walking. Bending, stooping, and lifting is minimal. The work environment may be physically confining. Normal hearing or the use of adaptive hearing devices to enhance hearing required. Visual acuity required for a variety of activities. Must be able to sit and utilize PC for long periods of time. Good manual dexterity required for keyboard activities. Ability to do shift work as required.
