Posting Number: V Position Title: Undergraduate Research Assistant Posting Type Student Hours/week: Up to 35 hours Eligibility: Work study preferred but open to all students Semester 2024 Summer Location CEER Detailed Work Schedule Number of positions: 3 Department: 960-Center for Resilient Water Systems Contact Name: Alina Ebling Contact Phone/Extension: Position Summary Information Job Description Summary: The Villanova Center for Resilient Water Systems is hiring student research assistants to work on a variety of water resources engineering projects for summer 2024. The Center collects and analyzes stormwater samples from field sites both on and off campus. The student research assistant would complete both lab and field work to support stormwater sampling. Laboratory work includes acid-washing glassware, maintaining a safe and clean lab, and preparing samples and equipment. Field work entails helping graduate students with maintaining their field sites, collecting samples, and installing/maintaining equipment. Requirements: Extremely detail-oriented with the ability to follow instructions. Able to work well both independently and as part of a team. Has critical thinking skills in order to work safely in the lab and field. Science or Engineering major preferred, but not required. Previous laboratory experience required (for example, general chemistry course or general biology course is acceptable). Must be 18 years of age or older. Additional Information: Physical Demands Summary: Must be willing to complete repetitive tasks in the lab and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to work in uncomfortable field conditions such as extreme temperatures, humidity, and/or rain. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
