Minimum Education: Satisfactory completion of an approved school and able to meet the requirements for registry forregistry/certification by the American Diagnostic Medical Sonographer. Must keep up with ARDMS continuing education credits. Must have ARDMS within one year of hire. Required Licenses: Idaho, United States Radiologic Technologist and Technician ARRT/ARDMS registration/certification required. Promotes a culture of safety for patients and employees through proper identification, reporting, documentation, and prevention. Maintains hospital standards for a clean and quiet environment. Maintains competency and knowledge of current standards of practice, trends, and developments in Ultrasound. Participates in ongoing quality improvement activities. Maintains compliance with Gritman Medical Center's policies, as well as established practices, protocols, and procedures of the position, department, and applicable professional standards. Complies with organizational and regulatory policies for handling confidential information. Demonstrates excellent customer service through their attitude and actions, consistent with the standards contained in The Gritman Way. Essential Functions Determines test procedures according to purpose of examination. Selects transducer, and makes equipment adjustments according to nature of test, depth of field, and other specifications of test. Conducts actual test procedure: moves transducer by hand over specified area of body and observes sound wave display to monitor quality of ultrasound image produced. Records diagnostic data to be digitally archived into PACS. Produces a permanent record of test results. Checks all equipment on a regular basis to ensure proper orientation. Functional Demands Population Served Neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric Physical Demands Requires full range of body motion including: handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 60 pounds. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Occasional stooping and kneeling to access documents and supplies in lower cabinets. Occasional reaching, handling, and hand dexterity to complete paperwork, use telephone and computer. Constant talking, hearing, and seeing to interact with patients, visitors, and staff. Environmental Conditions Location: Inside Regularly exposed to risk of blood-borne disease. Contact with patients under a wide variety of circumstances. May be exposed to/occasionally exposed to patient elements, i.e., accidents, injuries, and illnesses. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations, emergencies, and crisis situations. Occasional pressure due to multiple calls and injuries. Exposure to chemicals used for sterilization of equipment.
