Summary

This position is responsible for product transportation, as well as operational and maintenance support, for the farm and potato processing plant.

Responsibilities

In this position you will:
  • Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-trip inspections including, but not limited to, checking oil levels, brakes, lights, overall condition and appearance, and documents any faults or deficiencies in the log book and reports faults or deficiencies to the Shop Manager
  • Maintain truck DOT log book as required by federal and state agencies
  • Proficiently operate all Company trucks and trailers and efficiently complete all transports assigned
  • Maintain truck and trailer cleanliness
  • Provide training to other truck drivers
  • Operate equipment including, but not limited to, water truck, tractors, rakes, swathers, 10-wheelers, loader, road grader, fork lift, etc.
  • Assists with repairs in the shop
  • Operate and maintain equipment in the processing plant
  • Demonstrate leadership and excellent customer service skills when dealing with Company employees, vendors, contractors and regulatory personnel
  • Adhere to all Federal and State laws of the road; report any road or driving infractions to the Shop Manager
  • Adhere to all safety requirements at all points of loading and unloading vehicles
  • Know and understand load securement to Federal and State standards
  • Perform other duties as directed
  • Follow all Company policies and procedures.

Physical Demands
  • Stand occasionally, walk infrequently, sit regularly, hear/listen carefully regularly, climb and/or balance occasionally, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl occasionally, twist infrequently at the trunk or neck, bend infrequently, reach with hands and arms infrequently, taste and/ use sense of smell infrequently, use hands to manipulate, and handle and/or feel infrequently in the act of performing the required responsibilities of the position. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Visual acuity needed for peripheral observation up and down/left and right, depth perception for distance and spatial relationships. Mental dexterity needed to work independently while demonstrating attention to detail and continuous awareness.

Expected Hours of Work
  • Typically, daily farm hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Typically, daily processing plant hours vary and the work schedule is rotational - 6 days on/2s day off
  • Harvest and planting seasons are busy and require longer hours and some weekends

Desired Qualifications
  • No specific educational degrees required
  • A valid Class A CDL is preferred; Class A with an F endorsement is acceptable
  • CDL doubles and triples endorsements required
  • Must have at least two (2) years of truck driver experience
