Weekly Pay Range - $1159 To $1288
Summary:
- Dialysis technicians are medical specialists trained in the operation of a dialysis machine.
- Their primary duties include monitoring patients undergoing dialysis treatment, ensuring usage of the machine is safe and secure, and adjusting patient fluid removal rates as required.
- Reports to the Supervisor of the Unit.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Weighs patient and takes vital signs before, during and after treatment
- Sets up dialysis machines in readiness for therapy and breaks machine down after therapy based on company protocol.
- Follow established safety and infection control precautions, policies and procedure.
- Perform catheter care under the direction of a registered nurse.
- Cannulate effectively as per protocol and under the supervision of a nurse
- Collects information for the charge nurse during patient assessment and evaluation
- Collects Pre and Post dialysis blood samples.
- Spins blood sample before temporary cold storage.
- Keeps work area clean.
- Performs monthly drain maintenance.
- Collects water samples for testing as needed.
- Trouble-shoots machine problems as needed.
- Documents vital signs and machine pressures as per protocol.
- Treat patients and families with respect.
Dialysis Tech Job Description:
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Must complete a training program that is approved by the medical director and governing body, under the direction of a registered nurse, focused on the operation of kidney dialysis equipment and machines, providing direct patient care, and communication and interpersonal skills, including patient sensitivity training and care of difficult patients.
- One year of current Dialysis Tech experience is required.
- Current AHA BLS.
