POSITION: Trauma Therapist and Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Resource Navigator FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt (Hourly) DEPARTMENT: Counseling Services/ Wellness Center REPORTS TO: Director, Wellness Center JOB STATUS: Restricted Part-time (up to 19 hours/week on a regular basis) This is a grant-funded position with funding available through September 2024. PRIMARY PURPOSE/POSITION SUMMARY: Provide compassionate specialized therapeutic counseling to survivors of trauma including dating violence, domestic violence, and sexual assault or stalking. Employ trauma sensitive practices including emotional support, assessment, crisis intervention, short-term psychotherapy, and community referrals where appropriate, as well as group support within guidelines for best practices. Provide an assessment and short-term support counseling to both primary and secondary survivors. Engage in safety planning, general advocacy, supportive and educational group services. Collaborate with community partners and across divisional units to remove institutional obstacles to survivors' success and engagement at Dominican. This is a grant-funded position with funding available through September 2024. JOB COMPONENTS/PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide students with direct clinical care including assessment, individual therapy, group therapy, and crisis intervention. Document clinical care and supervision in Electronic Health Record according to best practices and Wellness Center policy, following the general practices and guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Collect data for biannual reporting to grant agency and university for Clery Act reporting. Contribute to an interdisciplinary environment of quality care with Wellness Center colleagues as well as community providers to facilitate access to necessary services for survivors of sexual assault, domestic and dating violence, and stalking. Provide workshops, trainings, and presentations pertaining to victim/survivor support. Provide leadership and support to campus initiatives that impact victims' recovery and mental health. Serve as a confidential advisor to student victims. Consult, as needed, with university faculty and staff to advocate and support students. Engage with the university's Coordinator Community Response Team. Perform other duties as requested, delegated or assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: All qualifications are required unless otherwise indicated. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of Diagnostic Statistical Manual Revision V, International Classification of Diseases (ICD 10) Proficient oral and written communication Strong intercultural development, self-awareness and demonstrated cultural competency working with underrepresented students. Strong collaborative interpersonal and teamwork skills Ability to work well with individuals as well as groups in a therapeutic setting Motivated and self-directed Fluency in Microsoft Office and electronic health records Bilingual: Spanish and English preferred Licensure, Education and Experience: Master's in Social Work, Counseling, or related field required; Post-Doctoral Psychologist, PsyD, or PhD in a related field preferred Illinois licensure preferred: Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor with Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Licensed Psychologist preferred; experienced clinicians eligible to apply for state professional license will be considered 3 years supervised clinical experience and robust clinical skills required; 3-5 years supervised clinical experience preferred 40 hour training in Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Trauma Sensitive Care strongly preferred 3-5 years of experience in higher education setting preferred DOMINICAN UNIVERSITY Dominican University is a Catholic, comprehensive teaching university located in River Forest, a suburb of Chicago.
