Essential Duties:

  • Serves as a liaison for the community trauma program in Mesa County.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance is essential; expected to be at job as scheduled each scheduled day.
  • Communicate necessary information to others as appropriate.
  • Maintains the trauma registry by collecting and in-putting data as required by CDPHE Trauma program regulations.
  • Assures that all components are necessary for maintaining trauma designation are accurate and complete from state trauma inspections/survey and periodic data submission requirements.
  • Actively participates in regional and state trauma systems.
  • Informs the ambulance crews and their supervisors about hospital regulations, and new equipment or procedures as needed.
  • Collaborates within hospital and community members regarding hospital preparedness.
  • Promotes trauma awareness in the community and safety issues by participating in public activities concerned with the prevention of injury and in community wide trauma education programs.
  • Audits and reviews charts of all trauma admissions, transfers, deaths, and trauma activations. Reviews trauma diverts and redirections.
  • Completes the state required audits.
  • Reviews all patient transfer documentation and discusses with staff or appropriate department director.
  • Assess the quality of care and outcomes of trauma patients, and coordinates CQI programs related to trauma patients.
  • Participates in the establishment and implementation of trauma service policies, procedures and protocols.
  • Organizes the trauma committee agenda and meetings with oversight by the Trauma Medical Director. Assists with trauma M&M and takes meeting minutes. Assures meeting minutes are documented, and oversees loop closure.
  • Tracks physician required courses and their continuing medical education.
  • Tracks RN required courses and continuing educational education.
  • Serves as an RN in the ER.
  • Functions as a clinical resource to the ER personnel.
  • Provides educational in-services related to trauma care for ER staff.
  • Provides direct patient care as appropriate according to performance standards of the department.
  • Collaborates and communicates effectively with the ER Medical Director and the Trauma Medical Director to meet objectives of the position.
  • Actively contributes to the development of a culture of patient safety.
  • Maintains trauma dashboard.
  • Regularly reviews and revises trauma policies and procedures.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Education

BSN or higher.

Licenses

Must be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado.

Certifications

BLS, PALS or ENPC, ACLS, TNCC within 6 months of hire.

Experience

3 years minimum current experience in emergency medicine, trauma nursing, or trauma ICU preferred.

WAGE RANGE: $40.64-$52.57
