BASIC FUNCTIONS: Service and perform maintenance on school buses and other motor vehicles. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: KNOWLEDGE OF: Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of automotive equipment, including buses, trucks, automobiles and other mechanical equipment. Safe work practices. ABILITY TO: Use hand tools. Assist in locating and diagnosing mechanical defects. Perform automotive preventive maintenance and assist in repair work. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. Work cooperatively with others. Read directions for minor repairs. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or equivalent, experience in general maintenance and repair work and repair of automotive equipment including buses, trucks, and automobiles. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS: The following MUST be attached to application on or before the deadline: High School Diploma OR Equivalent OR Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree or Higher Education Degree SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATES: Valid California driver's license. Incumbents in this position are required to supply standard automotive mechanic hand tools. The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment physical examination. Cost of the exam will be borne by the District. A pre-employment drug screening will also be administered. If selected for the position, out-of-district applicants must be T.B. tested and fingerprinted. A practical skills test may be administered at the time of interview.
