Military spouses Peace Corps & AmeriCorps Vista Veterans Clarification from the agency Eligible NAF employees are considered under Hiring Path - "Federal employees-Excepted service" Help Duties Summary The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a base training (military OJT) functional manager by administering, tailoring, delivering, evaluating, and managing training programs, activities, and personnel. Duties Advises and assists base personnel on proper policies and procedures, corrective actions, and cost-effective training methods to ensure training needs are met. As base training advisor recommends improvement to OJT programs and responds to requests for OJT support. Serves as a base training adviser and performs staff assistance visits (SAV). Analyzes OJT data for trends in skills training and mandatory Career Development Course (CDC) enrollments; and processes CDC enrollments, reenrollments, disenrollments, waivers, and AFSC withdrawal packages. Conducts base training meetings and training sessions. Help Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship Required. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE FOR CURRENT FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-05, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes, (1) Knowledge of an extensive body of rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, and operations of development education and civilian/military training programs to perform a wide variety of assignments involved in the development of training for students; (2) Knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources and use basic analytical methods and techniques to determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the scheduling function; (3) Knowledge of the education and training program mission and objectives to perform assignments and resolve a wide range of issues using accepted practices; (4) Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieve and input data, and maintain accurate files; (5) Ability to use a variety of computer programs/software to enter, maintain, sort, retrieve information, and produce a variety of standardized documents. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS FOR CURRENT FEDERAL EMPLOYEES: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS FOR EXTERNAL APPLICANTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1. Knowledge of standardized rules, regulations, and procedures of educational programs. 2. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy. 3. Ability to plan and organize work and to meet deadlines. 4. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations, retrieves and input data, and maintains accurate files; a qualified typist is not required. 5. Working knowledge of general office administrative and clerical procedures to distribute mail, answer telephone, keep appointment calendar, maintain files/office forms, and order supplies. 6. Ability to read and interpret specific procedural guidelines pertaining to administrative support, including locally developed equipment operating and document processing instructions, which are directly applicable to the work. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education This job does not have an education qualification requirement.
