Duties SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to serve as Training and Curriculum Specialist for Aircraft Maintenance courses. This position functions as the subject matter expert (SME) for the analysis, design, development, modification, and/or revision, implementation execution and evaluation of advanced and supplemental Technical Training Courses utilizing employee produced, self-contained, training products IAW Air Education and Training Command (AETC) instructions affecting the education and training of personnel working at the Air Logistics Complex. DUTIES: Instructs students through assigned blocks of instruction at advanced technical/administrative levels of aircraft maintenance courses. Researches, develops, revises and updates aircraft maintenance training in accordance with established learning outcomes. Plans, develops, executes, and evaluates a comprehensive and effective training program. Maintains professional and technical proficiency and accomplishes difficult, but well precedented special projects related to specialty area, to include staff surveillance visits to various training activities. Travel may include overnight stays. May occasionally be required to work other than normal duty hours and/or Shift work may be required which may include overtime and/or irregular hours. This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirements for the GS 1701, General Education and Training Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. OR COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. AND In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction. Examples of qualifying specialized experience include comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of professional concepts, principles, practices, procedures, regulations, and laws applicable to a full range of ground-based, aircrew flying training responsibilities such as that gained through extensive training, experience, and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex assignments. A comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of instructional concepts, methods, and techniques is required to develop and plan a variety of courses associated with teaching highly technical syllabus curriculum for the flying training program. Knowledge of a wide range of instructional concepts, techniques and methods required to develop and plan a variety of difficult and complex with teaching advanced technical systems or subject-matter areas. Knowledge of service-based occupations and the associated training/ certification requirements for military and civilian personnel. Knowledge of various office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support training operation and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. Knowledge of standard analytical and evaluative techniques to analyze training requirements, plan for and develop training materials, evaluate training effectiveness, and solve problems relating to training issues. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree with a major study in education or a subject area related to the position to be filled. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of a wide range of the principles and practical methods, techniques, and tools of instruction to teach a variety of students with a range of differences such as diverse ages, backgrounds, and levels of interest. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of instruction to include use of technology for design and delivery of training. Knowledge of tests and measurement principles, techniques, and objectives. Skill in developing curricula and training studies that supports the F-35 Aircraft Maintenance mission. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written communication to include in writing course curriculum, conducting instruction, and briefing a wide variety of ages and backgrounds. Ability to analyze problems and develop appropriate solutions. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
