The Traffic Signal Technician 3 is an excellent opportunity for an electronics/electrical technician working with traffic signals and street lights, and all associated devices.

Performs technical lead work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of computerized traffic signal systems and control equipment; leads, schedules, and directs traffic signalization projects or complex bench repair work and the inspection, maintenance, and repair of traffic signal systems and components and County drawbridges.

The work schedule for this position will be Monday - Thursday, 6:30AM - 5:00PM and work location will be 222aa US Hwy. 19 N., Clearwater, FL

What Would You Do?
  • Perform construction/installation and/or routine and emergency repairs of traffic signal and street lighting equipment.
  • Maintain and stock vehicles; maintain safe working area.
  • Troubleshoot electronic/electrical equipment in shop and in field.
  • Perform electrical repairs from an aerial device at heights over the roadway.
  • Operate vehicles, tools and equipment required to test and/or repair traffic signal and street lighting equipment.

What Do You Need To Have?
  • Four (4) years of electronic or electrical repair work experience that includes two (2) years in traffic signal equipment; or
  • Completion of a two-year vocational or technical school program with a diploma or certification in a directly related field and two (2) years of traffic signal experience; or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
  • CDL Class B
  • Florida Driver's license
  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.

Highly Desirable
  • Electrical knowledge of street lighting and/or traffic signal equipment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in electronic and electro mechanical traffic signal systems;
  • Knowledge of local and national electrical equipment codes, occupational hazards, and appropriate safety precautions;
  • Skill in the application of CPR and First Aid Techniques;
  • Ability to withstand exposure to varying weather conditions and work in confined spaces at considerable heights, and possession of sufficient physical strength and agility to lift and carry heavy objects and stand and walk for long periods;
  • Ability to locate, define, and repair defects in traffic signal equipment and apparatus;
  • Ability to install, alter, repair, and maintain a variety of electronic, electrical, and mechanical systems and equipment;
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical sketches, blueprints, and schematics;
  • Ability to use small office equipment and computers.
