Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties You will overhaul and make repairs to tools and equipment that require disassembly, cleaning, replacement of work or broken parts, grinding, and the application of oil and grease lubricants. You will use various meters and test equipment in troubleshooting defective equipment. You will maintain issue and receipt records for all tools and maintain adequate stock levels of cutting tools and expendable items in the tool room. You will perform all operational testing and inspection of tools and equipment to ensure that all Occupational Safety and Health Act standards and manufacturer's standards are in effect for the tools upon issue and receipt. You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires evening and weekend work. You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases. Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the WG-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Ability to perform the Tools & Parts Attendant position without more than normal supervision such as: 1) Selecting issued items from stock through routine identification with tools used in sheet metal, carpenter, plumber and electrical trades; 2) Utilizing microcomputers or other application software to operate the tool room check-in and out program; 3) Performing operations testing and/or inspection of tools and equipment. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. A 40 hour work week is typical for this position. Several vacancies may be filled. Physical Demands: Work requires considerable walking and some prolonged standing, may be required to bend, stoop, and kneel in performance of duty. Frequently lifts and carries tools that weigh up to 40 pounds. Occasionally lifts and carries items that weigh over 40 pounds. Occasionally it will be necessary to perform work in inclement weather and temperature extremes. Incumbent must be able to recognize color identification for electrical wiring, etc. Work Environment: Most work is performed inside buildings with concrete floors and in moderately lighted, heated, and ventilated. Occasionally work is performed in other maintenance shops when performing periodic maintenance checks. Incumbent is subject to minor cuts and bruises while operating machinery and is exposed to dirt, oil, grease, and cleaning solvent/fumes. Incumbent is required to wear safety shoes, glasses, and other appropriate equipment in performance of work. Incumbent is exposed to normal hazards associated with construction work and industrial operations and weather conditions while making inspections. During this time, personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used. This may include: a hard hat, safety shoes, protective clothing, respirator, protective eye wear and earplugs.
