Tobacco Intervention Change Coordinator Department: Wellness Program: Tobacco Reports To: Wellness Director Employment Status: Full Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Schedule: 40 hours/52 weeks Preference: TERO Ordinance 2017-01, P.L. 93-638 Job Summary The Tobacco Intervention Change Coordinator (TIC) shall manage the State of Alaska Health Systems Change for Tobacco Cessation grant. This position shall coordinate and implement tobacco cessation strategies utilizing the CDC's Million Hearts Tobacco Cessation Change Package. The Tobacco Intervention Change Coordinator will also support smoke-free air throughout the community and region by engaging healthcare systems and community organizations to update tobacco control policies consistent with the current CDC recommendations. This position will coordinate and facilitate various tobacco intervention strategies outlined within the grant, including: a) Kenaitze Health Systems Tobacco Intervention Multi-disciplinary Team meetings; b) Breathe Free Gulf Coast Coalition meetings; and c) Kenaitze healthcare provider trainings focused on adolescent-specific tobacco and/or nicotine- product screening tools. Coordination of multi-level interventions will support improved health outcomes for individuals affected by tobacco/nicotine products, second-hand smoke and third-hand smoke. Essential Functions Manage and implement the Tobacco Prevention and Control Health Systems Change Grant Engage stakeholders and decision-makers within Kenaitze Indian Tribe and other community organizations to support system level change for improved tobacco use screening of adolescents Support multi-agency/department collaborative projects to promote a healthy context or social environment Collect local and regional data demonstrating the prevalence of tobacco use, and support the need for policy/procedural changes Collaborate with the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District and the Kenaitze Youth Tobacco Prevention Coordinator to promote clean air, tobacco free media and support tobacco free policy advancements Co-facilitate Breathe Free Gulf Coast Coalition and coordinate outreach activities Coordinate and facilitate the Kenaitze Health Systems Tobacco Intervention Multi-disciplinary Team meetings Coordinate and facilitate Kenaitze healthcare provider trainings on evidence-based tobacco/nicotine screening tools Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies, and TERO ordinance It is the intent of this job description to highlight the essential functions of the position; however, it is not an all- inclusive list. ABCA and ICPA requirements apply and must be complied with at all times in order to remain in the position. Memorandum of Understanding: Serves as documented evidence that the Kenaitze Indian Tribe has expressed the ineligibility of an employee to operate motor vehicles owned, leased or rented by the Kenaitze Indian Tribe, or to operate a personal vehicle on behalf of the Kenaitze Indian Tribe.
