Therapy Technician Monday - Friday Day Hours Permanent Position Pediatric (Hospital, School, Residential) LifeScape is looking for an individual who possesses a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and a desire to learn and grow in the healthcare field to join and help support our team at the 26th street Sioux Falls location. As a valued member of LifeScape's therapy team, the Therapy Technician will have a hands-on role in working with patients and individuals with disabilities. The Therapy Technician helps create an environment and culture that enables LifeScape to fulfill its mission by assisting in providing high level patient care and support within our rehabilitation program, specialty school and residential environment according to hospital, state, professional and federal regulations and guidelines. Job Summary The Therapy Technician is vital to therapists and patient care teams by providing support and quality care while ensuring a fun/safe working environment. Requires competency in assisting therapists, CNA's, and patient care teams with therapy-based programs, equipment needs, and training as delegated by therapy team. Responsibilities Assists with patient/student transport to and from therapy sessions. Maintain department efficiencies and helps identify new efficiencies for teams. Maintains a safe and clean environment for therapy sessions and overall tidiness of the environment. Assist therapists in providing high-quality therapy services to patients and students including (but not limited to) passive and active range of motion, standing, exercise programs, ambulation, communication support and activities of daily living. Works directly with rehabilitation patients and families providing support and assistance with ADLs including bathing, positioning, skin care, ambulating, toileting, eating and transfers. Monitors condition and maintenance of equipment, toys, and facility. Troubleshoots and coordinates simple repairs, modifications and assembly, overseen by rehabilitation technician or therapist. Provides training to patient care staff for implementation of therapy -based programs and supports under the guidance of a skilled therapist following advanced training. Audits carryover of therapy recommendations and supports in all environments. Desired Skills Requires effective communication skills and professionalism while working with patients, families, caregivers, and departmental and interdepartmental relationships. Is self-motivated, takes directives well and follows up with all requests. Has superb multi-tasking and organization skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize duties. Additional information Good opportunity to gain clinical experience for those interested in pursuing further education in a health care related field (physical and/or occupational therapy, speech & language therapy, etc.). Will interact with patients of varied diagnosis (e.g. ortho, neuro, surgical, etc.) while transporting and assisting therapists during treatment sessions. LifeScape is a qualifying employer under the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma/GED required. Completion of College program in healthcare related field preferred but not required. Prior experience working with children or adults with disabilities or challenging behaviors preferred.
