ChildNet Youth& Family Services, Inc. is currently recruiting a Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) Clinician for our Foster Family Network program located in Bakersfield, CA.

Foster Family Network (FFN) provides various support services to FFN foster children, resource parents and their natural families. Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) Mental Health Services provides specialized mental health and behavioral services to children who have suffered multiple complex traumas, multiple psychiatric hospitalizations, and multiple failed placements in the foster care system. The Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) Clinician will be responsible for working primarily with Resource Parents and the geographical clinician to provide adjunct mental health services in the resource home and oversee resource parent daily billable progress notes. This position will provide individual/family therapy, collateral contacts, rehabilitation services and case management to at-risk children and their families. The TFC Clinician will also collaborate with clients, resource parents/biological parents, therapists/clinicians, social workers, and probation officers, etc., to maintain an interdisciplinary team approach for treatment purposes. This position will work with the TFC Client Support Services Coach to provide 24/7 crisis support, when needed to the foster child and Resource Parent, utilizing parent skills training and interventions, therapeutic behavior and trauma-informed skills building interventions in the foster home and in the community to foster youth who are at risk of losing placement due to severe behavioral or emotional needs.

TFC Clinician responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Provide 24/7 crisis support as needed to child and resource parent including parent skills training and interventions, therapeutic behavioral and trauma-informed training.
  • Assist resource parent in writing daily billable progress notes.
  • Conduct resource home visits and coordinate respite care.
  • Communicate weekly with client's assigned clinician and mental health team.
  • Assist county social worker and probation officer with after-care permanency planning.
  • Collaborate with all outside providers and seek additional mental health services as needed.
  • Coordinate treatment planning and interventions with the Child and Family Team.
  • Consult with teachers and other community contacts to monitor the youth's behavior progress.
  • Advocate for youth at all school meetings and IEP meetings.
  • Assess resource parent stress level and work with resource parent and Client Support Services Coach on ways to reduce stress in the home.
  • Monitor foster child and resource parent's progress on TFC trauma-informed treatment interventions (e.g., plan development, rehabilitation, and collateral).
  • Oversee compliance of resource home in meeting Resource Family Approval licensing requirements in coordination with the Foster Family Agency (FFA) Social Worker, Social Worker Supervisor and Recruitment/Placement and QA Supervisor.
  • Develop treatment goals and problems list with child and resource parent that align with TFC treatment interventions and monitor child's progress towards goals.
  • Approve behavioral reinforcements with FFA Social Worker, resource parent and Client Support Services Coach.
  • Introduce skills/interventions being practiced by other specialty mental health services providers.
  • Facilitate family treatment sessions; monitor visits with natural parents and family members.
  • Coordinate crisis responses to clients with all team members.
  • Attend and facilitate weekly TFC staff meetings with Regional Director, Clinical Supervisor, FFA Supervisors, FFA Social Workers and Coaches.
  • Maintain weekly billing goals for both TFC resource parents and clinician.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
