Job Description

Essential Position duties:

•  Work with Test engineers to understand the test plan, set-up data acquisition system, use identified sensors or probes depending on the type of the test and complete the test as per the outlined plan.
•  Configure and install data acquisition equipment, conduct prototype and product tests both indoor and outdoor, and conduct assigned component bench tests.
•  Maintain detailed test logs and document the day-to-day activity. Update daily activity details to tracking document. Provide updates in daily and weekly meetings. Catalog all the lessons learnt and report in daily meetings.
•  Work under the direction of test Engineer to complete the required tests and tasks.
•  Potential Electrical tasks - Making electrical harnesses, performing test setups for truck level and component level tests, environmental testing, Thermal cycling tests, Inrush currents and other firmware, electric, basic mechanical and general tests. Flash firmware as required on controllers. Prepare electrical schematics for associate created harness using the tools and training provided. Perform additional technical tasks as required. Installs electrical and electronic parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using soldering equipment and hand tools. Tests performance of electromechanical assemblies, using test instruments such as oscilloscopes, electronic voltmeters, and bridges.
•  Potential Mechanical tasks - Performing test setups for battery related and system level truck tests, other mechanical and electrical bench tests. Supporting truck preparations which can include part installs or swaps. Flash firmware as required on controllers using provided instructions and tools. Prepare minor fixture designs using the tools and training provided. Participate in fixture design, fabrication and setting up MTS fatigue test stands. Make basic electrical harnesses. Perform additional technical tasks as required. Installs mechanical parts and hardware in housings or assemblies, using hand tools. Perform tilt table tests, drop tests and other standard tests.
•  Review the test data that is collected to ensure proper channels and details with little to no guidance. Process acquired data from tests and conduct simple analysis using tools such as Excel.
•  Understand test plans, review test procedures, old test reports and other available material and complete testing. Create, modify or document identified test procedures, setup procedures and good practices by engineers and lab supervisors.
•  Perform Truck tests by driving the required duty cycles and patterns. Optimize patterns for tests based on the requirements.
•  Complete test reports as per specified timeline and quality using the training provided.
•  Propose test equipment selection to engineers and leaders for tests and participate in 5S activity.
•  Participate in the development of new test procedures as required. Prepare and implement improvements to processes and procedures related to testing.
•  Document and Countermeasure testing related issues as they arise. Ideate the countermeasures with engineers and leaders.
•  Assist lab supervisor on certain lab operation duties.
•  Participate in Facilities installation and other lab related activities as requested.
•  Participate in preparing 5Ys for failed tests or issues experienced. Ideate with Engineers and leaders on potential countermeasures and track the recurrence of the issue.
•  Identify Kaizen ideas and participate in Hoshin and Kaizen objectives.
•  Handle external tests, supplier visits or customer facilities to gather data as required.
•  Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
•  Additional duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:

•  High school diploma or above. Associates degree in mechanical, electrical or similar field of study would be ideal.
•  Should possess a self-driven personality with a drive to succeed and learn under limited training. Hands-on, sense of safety, teamwork oriented, detail oriented, technically oriented individual is highly preferred.
•  Excellent collaborator with good communication skills both written and verbal.
•  Possess the technical ability to read, evaluate, understand, and communicate data from prints and technical standard documents.
•  Strong technical writing skills to document daily activities and draft test reports to required standard.
•  Adaptable individual with strong passion towards their field of study or experience.
•  Ability to put customer needs first and resourcefulness to achieve it.
•  Associates with Electrical background - Basic understanding of electronic principles with working knowledge of electrical circuitry. Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits and come up with countermeasures as problems arise. Ability to put together electrical schematics with minimum training. Experience in harness preparation is required. Experience with electrical soldering and other essential electrical fabrication is required. Must have hands-on experience with electrical sub systems.
•  Associates with Mechanical background - Basic understanding of mechanical assemblies, systems. Ability to troubleshoot mechanical components and basic electrical circuits. Experience in making electrical harnesses is preferred. Must have hands-on assembly experience on forklift or other industrial/ road equipment. Ideate and fabricate fixtures required for testing or test setup.
•  Understanding of data analysis is preferred.
•  Physical: Able to continuously operate forklift and other types of material handling equipment for 2 hours, with short rest time.
•  Forklift driving skill: minimum 2 years of operation experience of forklifts or similar type of material handling equipment with trackable safety record.
•  Experience in working with sensors to collect data, data acquisition device and other types of testing equipment is highly preferred.
•  Tools and equipment: able to operate overhead cranes, other lab equipment which can include fatigue testing equipment, battery cycler and environment chambers with minimum training.
