Apex Systems is looking for Water Quality Support Specialists in the Silver Spring, MD area.

Title: Water Quality Support Specialist
Rate: $26/hr-$33/hr
Duration: Contract guaranteed until 2027 (Potential to become permanent employee based on performance)
Location: Silver Spring, MD 20904 (onsite)
Schedule: Monday-Friday Flexible schedule. Must work 8.5 hour days and can start as early as 6am/6:30am (9am - 3pm are the main core hours)
Summary :
The Water Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting activities to help ensure the production and distribution of safe water for the public while meeting regulations and customer satisfaction. The Specialist performs a series of duties related to monitoring the data analytics and troubleshooting of existing and new water quality panels. Responsibilities:

•  Supports customer complaints handling and coordinates customer sampling logistics.
•  Communicate directly with customers to coordinate investigation and sampling.
•  Conducts operation and sampling related with special studies, full, pilot, and bench scale tests for the purpose of solving or evaluating water quality problems.
•  Maintains and operates field analytical equipment.
•  Conducts routine services and minor repair to maintain all monitoring equipment in good operational condition.
•  Prepares reagents and standards for routine and non-routine laboratory analyses and maintain records.
•  Maintains and operates on-line water quality monitoring systems for contaminant detection.

Other Responsibilities:
•  Enters all resulting data in the LIMS and all other appropriate databases.
•  Prepares and maintains reports to certify data and satisfy EPA requirements for environmental test procedures.
•  Analysis of laboratory samples for external and internal clients.
•  Prepares sample bottles for field work, including cleaning, chemical preservatives, labeling, and coolers.
•  Maintains complete records and documents of analyses according to Laboratory QA Manual and SOPs.
•  Maintains compliance with all QA/QC and safety requirements at pre-scheduled intervals.
Qualifications:
•  Bachelor's degree in environmental science/engineering, chemistry, biology, or related scientific fields.
•  Strong customer service skills.
•  Knowledge and understanding of drinking water treatment processes, water distribution system, water quality monitoring, and emergency response.
•  Knowledge of principles, practices, methods, and techniques of sample collection and preparation.
•  Ability to interpret water quality data and identify anomalies.
•  Knowledge of proper laboratory procedures and good laboratory practices (GLP).
•  Knowledge of environmental Standard Operating Procedures, EPA Approved Methods and Standard Methods procedures.
•  Ability to gain knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets, Safety Manual, and all emergency procedures.
•  Ability to appropriately use and maintain personal protective equipment.
•  Skill in the use of laboratory computer programs.
•  Skill in the use of spreadsheet and database tools to perform computational work.
•  Skill in operation of analytical instrumentation including routine maintenance and minor repairs.
•  Ability to maintain detailed and accurate records.
•  Ability to prepare comprehensive analytical reports.
•  Ability to accurately perform chemical, bacteriological, or biological tests.
