The Division of Student Affairs fosters student growth and development as well as aids, directs and informs students about services and programs that will expand students' educational experiences and prepare them for diverse lives in local and global communities. The Division of Student Affairs is responsible for many of the outside the classroom/off campus aspects of student life at ECSU, including student engagement and leadership; career services; student disability services; residential life; student activities; special programs and services; student health and counseling services. Description of Work Primarily responsible for performing administrative duties, including the day-to-day operations of Viking CARES. This includes but not limited to mental health and substance abuse counseling, facilitating prevention outreach and training to students, faculty, and staff, and the development of Alcohol and Other Drug resources. Decisions of the Counseling Center staff are governed by ethics and standards of professional practice; licensing requirements of the state of North Carolina; Elizabeth City State University policies and procedures; Counseling Center policies and procedures; and state laws related to the profession. Competencies/Knowledge Skills, and Abilities Required in this Position The candidate should have considerable knowledge of mental health disorders, specifically substance use disorders, and demonstrate knowledge of program development and evaluation. Licensed/Licensed eligible (LCAS, LPC, LCSW, CMHC, CADC). License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist (LCAS), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC), Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). Management Preferences Experience working with diverse populations including LGBTQA, non-traditional students, veterans, persons with disabilities, etc. At least two years of postmasters clinical experience working in a college counseling center or mental health facility/community mental health, which can include a practicum or internship.
