Job Description Darien Library seeks a full-time Technology Specialist who is inquisitive, methodical, and dedicated to providing technological solutions to staff and patrons alike. Reporting to the Systems Administrator, the Technology Specialist provides Library staff with the resources to work effectively and efficiently and supports patron access to reliable and evolving technological resources.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
  • Maintains staff and public endpoints and peripherals; including managing computers, laptops, copiers, printers, receipt printers, barcode scanners, phones, points of sale, kiosks, and the cable management thereof, as well as installing and updating software, firmware, and hardware including A/V equipment.
  • Answers support tickets discerning the appropriate delegation for resolution, working independently, in consultation with the Systems Administrator, or with vendor support.
  • Demonstrates commitment to superb customer service and embraces Darien Library s Kindness First motto in both external and internal user experience.
  • Creates and maintains training tutorials for staff, teaching staff how to best help patrons utilize the Library s technological resources.
  • Investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves technical issues and questions related to hardware and software.
  • Maintains complete, in-depth documentation and inventory of technology equipment.
  • On-boards new staff members, sets up accounts, configures endpoints, and trains new staff members in technology workflows as well as off-boards departing staff.
  • Represents the UX & Technology Department on public service desks a minimum of 10-20 hours per week.
  • Offers one-on-one technical support sessions to patrons.
  • Occasionally provides technical support to evening and weekend events.
  • Assumes in-charge responsibilities of the building and staff when designated.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
QualificationsDegree
  • Bachelor s Degree strongly preferred
  • CompTIA A+ certificationORminimum of two years comparable experience. Certification in CompTIA A+ will be required within the first six months of employment, funded by the Library.

Salary & Benefits Begins at $56,000 and is commensurate with experience. Includes a competitive benefits package.
