Job Description Technician V-Construction Project Specialist Location: Facilities & Construction 12 months, 8 hours/day Grade 31, $24.40/hour Non-Interim Position Dates: 07/01/2024 - 06/30/2025 Five year clean driving record required. Purpose Statement The job of Facilities & Construction Technician V - Project Specialist is done for the purpose/s of providing maintenance services with specific responsibility for ensuring completion of assigned work order projects; performing a wide variety of skilled maintenance activities and ensuring that tools and materials are available at the job site. This job reports to Director of Facilities and Construction Essential Functions Acts as a resource to staff and consultants for the purpose of providing direction and responding to inquiries. Informs personnel regarding procedures and/or status of construction jobs for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations. Inspects construction/work projects for the purpose of ensuring that safety and design specifications are within compliance. Maintains project logs including safety issues/follow up for the purpose of providing an up to date reference materials. Maintains current inventory status of all district construction issues for the purpose of providing quality assurance transition as construction is completed. Oversees Support Services Construction Technician II - Computer for the purpose of ensuring the completion of projects in a timely manner and according to specifications. Prepares written materials (e.g. project logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information. Troubleshoots warranty and plan discrepancy problems for the purpose of determining the efficient resolution of issue/s and working within specific time frames. Other Functions Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices; analyzing data; operating standard office equipment; planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; preparing working drawings; reading blueprints and schematics; using pertinent software applications. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: current construction practices; read and interpret building plans and specifications. ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with a variety of data; and utilize a wide variety of types of job-related equipment. Problem solvingis required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant. Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 60% sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness. Experience: Job related experience within a specialized field is required. Education: Highschool diploma or equivalent. Equivalency: Preferred Qualifications: BA/BS degree or equivalent One Year Construction Experience One Year experience with computer aided drafting systems.
