As a Technical Writer, you will create, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including equipment manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and cybersecurity-related policies and standards. You will collaborate with multiple teams to ensure that the documentation aligns with industry standards and is accepted by all stakeholders. This position requires high technical proficiency, strong communication skills, and a deep understanding of information security compliance requirements. Key Responsibilities: Write technical materials, including equipment manuals, appendices, and operating and maintenance instructions.
Focus on the development of process documentation and cybersecurity-related policies, with heavy interaction with multiple teams to gain consensus and deliver final documentation products.
Assist in layout work when necessary.
Check documents for spelling, grammar, organization, consistency, and content.
Implement DoD, FIP, GPO, or commercial documentation standards as appropriate.
Ensure documents follow the appropriate style guide and editing workflow process.
Create guidance and technical documents/briefs.
Prepare, review, revise, and maintain technical documents related to software and systems engineering, system operations, testing, and user documentation.
Write and edit technical and code documentation for all project hardware and software, including installation and configuration guides.
Provide field data definition and data flow documentation.
Format technical publications from pamphlets, technical drawings, and collaboration with technical personnel.
Utilize leading practices and frameworks (NIST, FISMA, ISO, etc.).
May be required to respond to support needs during nights or weekends or be placed on an on-call schedule as directed.
Requirements
Specific Duties/Tasks: Strong proficiency in report writing, with the ability to produce clear and thorough security incident reports and briefings.
Expert knowledge of DoD/MHS instructions, policies, and templates.
Strong knowledge of RMF requirements for documentation for Authority to Operate (ATO).
Substantive experience providing document/process development support for a cybersecurity organization.
Experience maintaining continual improvement processes.
Thorough understanding of Information Security Compliance requirements.
Strong knowledge and working experience within security and risk methodologies and frameworks.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or equivalency
Six (6) years of progressive technical writing experience
IAT II and CE certifications (expert preferred)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in report writing and technical editing
Familiarity with DoD/MHS instructions and RMF requirements
Strong knowledge of cybersecurity policies and standards
Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
Detail-oriented and highly organized
