Title:
Technical Writer 3 KBR is seeking a Technical Writer to join our team. In this role, you will research, organize, write, edit and produce technical data for major publication projects. Role and Responsibilities: Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style.
Participates in the establishment of style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations.
Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective using existing solutions.
Works autonomously, receives minimal guidance.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
Uses MTA reports and works with internal and external LSA teams to make sure the data module and MTA narrative is in sync.
Works with internal and external customers to ensure that technical documentation is complete and accurate.
Attends multiple complex meetings and is expected to always represent the company in a professional manner.
Coordinates with other internal support organizations, NATEC, and other external organizations as needed.
Assists in establishing style guidelines for text and illustrations.
Works closely with graphics team to request specific graphics needed.
Integrates a range of inputs to job performance; includes inputs from task and project requirements, and a range of theories and concepts.
May support proposal compiling/ editing.
Performs all other duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in an applicable technical field or 4 years equivalent experience and excellent written communication skills.
5 years technical writing and copy-editing experience.
Experience working with military technical documents, delivery, and integrated logistics support (ARs, MIL STDs and MIL-PRFs, IETMs, TPDRs, DIDs, etc.) is recommended.
Naval aviation maintenance experience is a plus.
Experience working with engineering drawings, MTA data, LSA data, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Catia, CAD modeling program or Visual Mockup is preferred.
Must be able to prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customer.
Must be flexible and can adapt to new information and programs.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have the ability to research, review, and understand technical information and develop procedural information for technical documentation.
Knowledge of Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) development procedures using S1000D, and DoD MIL-STDs; Document Type Definitions, and style sheets used to develop product deliverables for all classes of IETMs is a plus.
Must be able to operate office equipment such as personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required.
Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements.
Travel may be required to support projects; this may involve airline travel.
Must have an active secret level security clearance. Preferred Skills Proficient in Microsoft office suite and Oracle products.
XML authoring experience.
Experience with S1000D process Data Modules.
Experience with the EAGLE Publishing System, the NAVAIR Enterprise Common Source Data Base (highly desirable) or equivalent capability.
