Technical Systems Lead- Suse Linux OS

Reston, Virginia (Hybrid)

Position Summary

Thales is looking for a Technical Systems Lead- Suse Linux who will be responsible for owning the maintenance and administration of systems and related computing environments at 2 U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) data centers, including computer hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurations; mentor and train support personnel in the operations and maintenance of a national security system; diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and manage the replacement of defective components when necessary.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements

Must have U.S. or Dual Citizenship (with U.S. being one of the citizenships) and be able to obtain post-hire Public Trust Security Clearance from the Department of Homeland Security

Key Areas of Responsibility

As the technical leader of the group, you will own all tasks assigned to data center personnel to ensure successful completion.

Responsible for providing mentorship and daily technical leadership of data center systems administrators.

Ensure all systems are operational by daily monitoring of the team and the system for technical issues.

Troubleshoot and resolve systems issues on various operating systems (Suse, Ansible, Windows AIX etc.).

Owns and drives technical design, planning, implementation, and recovery of systems.

Evaluate, test, and lead the installation of software and firmware updates to meet security requirements and to resolve software and system issues.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar technical discipline and 9 years of related experience, OR a minimum of 15 years of related, technical experience in Linux/Unix/AIX and Windows in lieu of a degree.

At least 5 years of technical leadership experience with a team of senior systems administrators and ability to work various hours, including on-call support.

Provide technical coaching to technical team members (developers, system administrators, and network engineers) to apply industry standards and improvements.

Prior Suse Linux Enterprise Server 15 advanced administration skills - experience applying Suse 15 Operating System security patching in proven efficient manner in high availability, live patching test and production environments.

At least 5 years of hardware management skills (troubleshoot issues with physical and virtual servers; firmware updates).

Prior Experience with IBM Power 10 or similar systems as well as prior experience administering AIX in a HACMP clustered environment.
