A prominent western U.S. accounting and consulting firm, established in 1959, is renowned for its expertise and excellence. It offers a wide range of services with industry specializations, emphasizing client service, professional growth, and technological advancement. The firm is currently hiring a HYBRID Tax Manager for its San Jose location.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform technical tax review and approval of all tax returns and governmental tax examinations of any complexity.

  • Assume full responsibility for larger tax returns, delegating tasks to various tax preparers as necessary.

  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge and proficiency in advanced technical skills necessary for advising clients.

  • Complete all tasks related to client service, ensuring assignments are accomplished within budgeted time.

  • Participate actively in client meetings and tax planning efforts to assist the Auditing and Accounting Department with larger clients.

  • Serve as a resource for tax preparers/specialists and A&A staff on specific tax issues and questions.

  • Take responsibility for preparing more complex business returns.

  • Manage client service responsibilities for direct clients or those delegated from the Partner.

  • Communicate important tax and tax developments affecting clients to appropriate firm personnel.

  • Delegate and manage governmental tax examinations, potentially representing clients before the appropriate taxing authorities.

  • Ensure smooth flow of tax returns through the tax preparation system for accurate, complete, and timely preparation and delivery.

  • Adhere to accurate and timely billing and collection processes.

  • Research and evaluate tax preparation and tax research software for partner recommendations.

  • Participate in firm practice development through involvement with referral sources, community, and industry activities.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Develop, coach, and train Supervising Seniors, Seniors, Semi-seniors, and Staff accountants.

  • Be familiar with the qualifications of all Tax staff members for the development and instruction of their training needs.

  • Participate in reviews and evaluations of the Tax Department.

Qualifications:

  • At least five to seven years' experience in public accounting, demonstrating a proven progression in tax complexity, scope, and research.

  • Minimum one year of experience supervising and directing the work of tax preparers.

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required; master's degree in taxation preferred.

  • Current and valid certified public accountant's license required.

Pay Details: $138,000.00 to $152,000.00 per year
