A bit about us:

Growing CPA firm that specializes in working on returns for businesses who hold government contracts is hiring both a Senior Tax Accountant and a Tax Manager for their firm.

These are fully remote positions, however, they will only consider local candidates to Virginia, Maryland and District of Columbia. If you are not local, you will not be considered.

Must have multi-state tax experience, ideally doing income returns for businesses who hold government contracts. Additionally S-Corp and partnership tax experience for companies and individuals.

Tax Manager must have active CPA and ideally 5+ years of experience.

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Review complex annual tax returns 1120, 1120S, 1065, 1040, 1041, and 709
  • Review multi-state tax returns for businesses and individuals. Understand and advise clients state nexus, apportionment, state adjustments, pass-through entity taxes, and composite tax returns
  • Develop and review workpapers necessary for tax compliance such as accrual to cash basis conversion and book to tax differences, etc.
  • Perform year-end tax planning by projecting taxable income and tax liabilities and participate in related client meetings
  • Review quarterly estimated tax payment vouchers
  • Review business personal property tax returns, business license renewals, and any other state and local tax compliance as necessary
  • Represent and correspond on behalf of clients for examinations and notices from the IRS and state and local jurisdictions
  • Perform tax research to resolve tax issues and consult clients
  • Maintain effective communication with clients and team members for effective management of projects from start to completion
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Mentor staff/senior's
  • Perform other job related duties as necessary

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • CPA is required
  • Master's in taxation is preferred
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience directly in a tax accountant role with a public accounting firm
  • Previous experience in the government contracting industry is required
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Internal Revenue Code preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication are required
  • Manage multiple projects within time budgets and take ownership on assigned projects
  • Demonstrate positive attitude and willingness to build skills/knowledge
  • Maintain proactive approach for client services
