TAX ACCOUNTANT/PREPARER
ABOUT THE COMPANY:
- A collegial boutique trust & estates law firm in Pittsburgh is seeking an experienced tax accountant/tax preparer to assist in individual & fiduciary tax preparation, tax planning & estate & trust administration. This position is a part-time position from May through January & a full-time position from February through April and/or during peak tax season. They will consider a hybrid work schedule/flexible work hours depending on candidate's needs.
OVERVIEW OF THE TAX ACCOUNTANT/PREPARER ROLE:
- Prepare forms 1040, 1041, PA-40, PA-41 & possibly tax returns for other states
- Tax Accountant/Preparer prepares financial statements, reports &/or spreadsheets as requested.
- Utilize tax programs, tax return preparation software & tax research software; Prosystem fx software experience a plus
- Review fiduciary accountings
- Tax Accountant/Preparer works on highly confidential client matters.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE FOR TAX ACCOUNTANT/PREPARER ROLE:
- BA/BS in business, finance, accounting or a related discipline preferred.
- Advanced degree or CPA license a plus
- Tax accountant/Preparer needs a minimum of 3 years of professional work (tax preparation) experience required.
- Registered tax preparer with a active PTIN a plus
- Tax Accountant/Preparer with law firm, accounting firm or trust department experience would be a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Strong written & verbal communication skills
- Sound knowledge or Microsoft Office programs, including Excel & Word
- Working & practical knowledge of accepted accounting rules & practices, tax laws & reporting requirements.
- Experience preparing IRS forms 706 & 709, 990-PF & PA Inheritance Tax returns a plus
- Demonstrated analytical abilities, including problem solving & decision making
- Possess strong organizational skills
- Willingness to learn and acquire new skills
