Tax Accountant

General Description of Tax Accountant:

CFS is partnering with a local Financial Services organization specialized in Aircraft leasing and sales. They are seeking a Tax Accountant; they will serve as a core member of the Company's Tax department. The Tax Department is looking to grow their team with a Tax Accountant to help support tax compliance and reporting matters for the Company including VAT, Sales, & Use, as well as Federal, State, and foreign tax compliance functions and other miscellaneous tax filing obligations.

Responsibilities of Tax Accountant:

  • Maintain a tax calendar of required domestic and international compliance for all direct and indirect taxes (including VAT, Sales & Use and property taxes).
  • Solely responsible for VAT filings in Ireland, France, and other countries as needed (bi-monthly).
  • Preparation of Sales & Use Tax returns (quarterly).
  • Request and analyze flight logs from airlines (quarterly).
  • Reconcile tax basis fixed assets and depreciation (quarterly).
  • Preparation of annual Personal Property tax returns (annual).
  • Preparation of Report of Foreign Bank accounts (annual)
  • Assist Accounts Payable with 1099-MISC filings (annual).
  • Respond to management requests for net tax values of aircraft.
  • Preparation of W-8Ben requests from Treasury.
  • Completion of registration forms for newly established entities, (US and International).
  • Manage, monitor and maintain log of notices from and responses to taxing authorities.
  • Assist with federal, state, local and foreign tax audits.
  • Assist other members of Tax team with issues which arise in the day-to-day operations.

Position Requirements:

Formal Education and Certification

  • Bachelor's degree in related degree

Knowledge and Experience

  • 4-6 years' relevant work experience
  • Combination of public accounting and strong industry tax experience
  • Federal, foreign, and state & local tax knowledge

Competencies

  • High level mastery of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently with high degree of energy and productivity
  • Responsive to both internal and external parties and communicate clearly
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines
