Converged Solutions and Tactical ISR, part of Battle Management, Command & Control, and Autonomous Systems (BMC2 &A) is seeking a talented Senior Engineering Manager to lead a cross functional Systems Engineering team supporting the Portfolio programs. The candidate will have the opportunity to leverage industry best practice Digital Engineering product development lifecycles and lead a team of Systems Engineers to provide our warfighters with CJADC2 technologies and solutions. The candidate will be expected to work with engineers, customers, and leadership to turn ideas into reality and to help carry the future of the Converged Solutions and T-ISR into a sustainable value stream. The manager is responsible for tactical execution of programs, performance management, employee development, talent acquisition/retention, and strategic support of the business. This position is remote but does require the ability to travel. This position requires an active Secret clearance prior to start date. Primary Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the candidate is to continuously improve the performance of the team through development of staff. This includes assigning resources to projects, setting and evaluating goals, coaching and management of compensation, recognition and awards. The candidate will collaborate across programs and engineering teams to identify efficiencies, share resources, and support the development of best practices, necessitating an ability to clearly communicate objectives and status to audiences with varying degrees of understanding of the products and technology. The candidate will be required to understand and manage both customer and IR&D funded projects. Technical Management - drive success in development of future business opportunities in the CJADC2 space. Project Management - candidate must be able to guide team members on the management of scope, schedule, and budget for engineering design activities; candidate will be directly involved in project management and execution, including Earned Value and Risk Management. Decision Making - The candidate must demonstrate sound decision-making skills, strategic thinking, networking skills, and the ability to accurately forecast resource needs. Personnel Administration - candidates must be able to perform hiring, performance assessment, management of personnel issues, and create an engaged and motivated team. Present staffing plans and software execution plans to program leadership. Technical Leadership of a software team, ownership of software product providing innovative solutions that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Ability to travel as needed. Qualifications/ Experience Needed: Demonstrated experience applying effective leadership (i.e., gaining confidence/trust of others, setting the example, alignment on organizational values and goals, timely decision making, nurturing culture, reading team members, mentoring/coaching other leaders or team members, facilitating problem solving of issues or even conflicts within teams, leading self and others, achieving results) Demonstrated experience collaborating effectively and building partnerships with others inside and outside the parent organization. Experience in proposals and projects execution leadership role that included responsibility for scope, schedule, and budget management. Experience in project management and execution, including Earned Value and Risk Management. Willingness to travel occasionally to support customer events, and related external activities. Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience. Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. This position will require the ability to access US-only data systems Preferred Qualifications: Technical credibility or domain knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Battle Management, COA analysis, variable message format (VMF), "K-series" messages, Joint or Coalition interoperability, Long-Range Precision Fires, Extended Range Cannon Artillery, Extended Range Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems, Precision Strike Missiles, Projectile Tracking Systems, Fire Direction Centers, Common Operational Picture, meteorology (MET), or target acquisition. Experienced in the application of organizational authority for hiring, firing, promotion, and rewards. Able to establish key elements of operational plans with direct impact towards the achievement of results and holding people accountable for their contributions. Able to see the context, and develop or adjust relevant processes, standards and operational plans in support of the Engineering functional strategy. Experience in collecting and analyzing engineering metrics for decision making. Knowledgeable of Agile execution. Experience leading a software team, Scrum Master or similar. Knowledge and experience in DevSecOps best practices. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
