Description The DarkStar Group is seeking a Systems Engineer with a TS/SCI + CI Poly clearance (applicable to this customer) to join one of our top projects in Reston, VA. The Systems Engineer will provide engineering analysis, design and architecture for a growing
data driven microservice and mission application environment. The Systems Engineer will be
asked to provide technical expertise to support a variety of tasks to include, but not limited to:
Provide engineering, architecture, technical approach and systems design to large, integrated programs, for all aspects of software system development from mission analysis through verification/validation of system performance.
Build a deep understanding of the customer's mission and workflows.
Capture high level program requirements that help drive decision-making and document the requirements and major project/program decisions in JIRA or Confluence.
Design software and data architectures that meet and exceed mission needs which are implementable, extensible, and flexible.
Plan, coordinate, and manage the systems engineering activities within a program with multiple projects.
Advise on cross domain solutions to include integration of capabilities, updates/upgrades, data sources, dissemination paths, and extensible API development.
Lead Systems Engineer responsible for implementing and explaining overall architecture and integration efforts across several software development teams within a program to non-technical customers and government stakeholders.
Required Skills Bachelor's degree. 4 additional, relevant years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
5 years of relevant experience as a Software or Systems Engineer.
Experience as a systems engineer and/or architect of multiple software systems successfully implemented and deployed to production.
Desired Skills (Optional) BS degree in Computer Science or Engineering discipline.
Software development background, especially as a tech lead or senior developer role.
Experience working on an Agile team and executing according to agile principles.
Experience working on-site at a customer location, especially DoD or IC.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within or lead a team of peers, as well as excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
Ability to communicate highly technical analyses at a level comprehensible to non- technical audiences and senior-level government representatives.
Ability to clearly express in writing, technical analysis results and site characterizations.
Military or defense-related experience and an understanding of operational planning and functional defeat of hard targets.
DAWIA Level II or equivalent in the systems planning, research, development and engineering (SPRDE)-S&T functional areas.
DoD test and evaluation, SPRDE-S&T manager or systems engineering, program management, or contracting experience.
